I do disagree with you in regards of this step being backward. This project will be productive and will definitely carry a beneficial outcome, it has nothing to do creating a division among sexes.

Start very very small: Allow women to drive... Ten years later: Allow them freedom of movement alone (travel etc etc).... 5 years later: Allow them to work.....

How does that sound? I know your women studying in West, they are pretty bright cookies, gifted with a BALANCED and logical mind, they will understand the slow progress, talk to them!

Mate, in all probability will fire back!

Scenario:

* Thousands of women, free to move inside the 'town-ship'
* Thousands of women driving within the 'town-ship'

However, deep inside still feeling discriminated against. Why? :

* I can't still drive outside?
* If I can work so wonderfully here, why not working in the main-stream?
* If I can work, why can't I vote?

Don't forget: Cities need maintenance and LOADS of support-works that need "man-power" to get done. Then what? Cordon off a section every month when some heavy machine need to be operated. Sewage canals need fixing.... etc etc.....

In the end.. you end up with more questions than you bargained for and a situation that is more fluid than what it is today.

Now don't forget the wider implications: What about countries such as Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia with almost perfect laws for women, we will go 100 steps back, because of this little experiment.

Well peoples often confuse liberation with westernisation. Different societies have different views of liberation. Is this idea brought by women for women? If women are happy to have a separate city or place where they have freedom to move/work freely without having guys staring at them and mixing with them then i don't see any problem there but if this idea is being implemented by forced against the will of women then there is a issue.

so you are speaking on behalf of Saudia women? what if they are happy to live such life then why you should get restless when you have nothing to do with them?

I don't see any logic why they are stopping women to drive cars but again if someone don't drive cars it don't mean he/she become less human beings..they have drivers who take them wherever they wish to go
