For gods sake we are not interested in Arleigh Burke class, you are free to buy them as well. The reason you cannot buy the Russian Vessels are the same as why you cannot buy the Arleigh Burke or LCS. You can figure out that reason yourself.

PLAN is a threat but not until they induct aircraft carriers because without air cover there surface vessels will be sitting ducks for Mig-29s.
There submarines will have to cross Malacca straits to challenge IN and we can deploy our ASW assets there to counter them effectively.
I am all for importing submarines but not surface vessels especially frigates.

And our ASW assets are barely sufficient to cover Western sea board, let alone being able to cover Malacca.
At the end of the day we ought to manufacture everything in India - from subs to surface vessels.

But there is reality to consider - and the reality is that our Navy is not expanding at the rate it needs to. Our Navy is cognizant of this reality - that it is barely above the replacement level and is therefore keen to add capacity from wherever it can get it.

Now the call is for MoD to take - whether or not it lets private yards in or keep stymieing the Navy

They don't give soft loans as they themselves need $$$ and there ships are not soo cheap( In Price ) like Chinese.

Pakistan can afford few used refurbished ships from Russia if they are willing to sell and they are cheaper then new ones.
