In a civil society, when someone violated the social contract, there is a higher authority to whom the victim can appeal for protection, justice, and perhaps even restitution if applicable. There is no such higher authority for this global society despite what the UN and its believers may say. The only recourse any country has are the consensus of its neighbors and allies to justify its responses. What is happening here with the Chinese members who support NKR is typical of blaming the victim, which is South Korea. If someone assault and rob a homeowner, and if the homeowner decided to seek justice and restitution, would anyone in this civil society criticize and condemn the victim for pushing the issue? So how could anyone legitimately criticize SKR, for lack of a higher authority to act on its behalf, assert its military to prepare for war? Yes...It has to stop somewhere and that stopping point is arms.
Think SK mean business now they are in full alert just waiting to see if Nk will pull another stunt like they did b4.
Your wrong there my friend, having trained with RoK forces I can tell you they are a very well equipped, trained, and motivated force. the North may have numbers but that doesn't mean much when they are so out classed in modern weaponry and training.
I disagree. Looking from their uniforms, which do not use modern digital camoflauge but use backwards traditional camoflauge, their equipment standards are far below that of China, US and Russia. They are well equipped but do not have the manufacturing capability to sustain a war against a more heavily armed opponent - both their F-15 and F-16 are made in USA and cannot be made in korea. In terms of motivation, that's hard to quantify, but if you asked me, the North Koreans are far more motivated. In addition, if South Korean military is so motivated, why do they still have a national draft? In my opinion, any country that enforces a national draft in peacetime cannot be seen to have a truly motivated army.
It is always amusing to see how you occasionally contradict yourself. North Korea is a 'draft' state but in your opinion, its military is highly motivated. South Korea military also has compulsory military service, but the troops are not as motivated. So based upon what that you can make these assertion? As for the air forces, what make you think the North Korean air force is superior to US made F-15s and F-16s? Does North Korea even have an air force worth talking about?I disagree. Looking from their uniforms, which do not use modern digital camoflauge but use backwards traditional camoflauge, their equipment standards are far below that of China, US and Russia. If you refuse to grant South Korea the right to assert its military and to retaliate then you are blaming South Korea indirectly. The UN is not going to send forces to apprehend Kim Junk-whoever is in charge.i am not blaming SK myself, but i disagree on that stopping point you refereed. That is NOT a stopping point, but that might be just the beginning of long term hatred which already exist. war is just not solution in this case, since those both nations are neighbors. it's not like where one nation go and start a war and than finish it. those both nations have border with each other and it's better as long as they avoid a war. we all may know that SK is the victim here, but that arms "stopping point" is not necessary.....Yet!!
I don't see anything wrong with their uniforms.
As far as the draft goes. Any country that is in perpetual state of war I think should have a military draft. This ensures that it's military age men are well trained and can be called upon in the event the truce ends. And please detail for me where they are lacking in both manufacturing and modern equipment compared to North Korea? (or even Russia, and China)
I'm only going by the pictures here:

In addition, the F-15 and F-16 used by South Korea are not able to be made in south korea. This forces them to buy from the US, a dangerous strategy if the shipments from the US are not able to be made - final assembly is made in St. Louis.
