Will attack South Korea if drill goes ahead: North Korea

Strawman argument.

He was responding to two Indian posters, not directing the question at South/North Koreans.
Asking the Indians is the real strawman argument. For decades, the two Koreas had a peace, an uneasy peace, but peace nonetheless. South Korea continues to prosper and offers the world much. What has this abomination called North Korea done? Nothing. So for this recent artillery attack by North Korea, who really has a 'hardon' for war here? Let me guess, according to the Chinese boys here, North Korea has a right to lob artillery shells at South Korea for no reason, but the latter does not have the right to prepare its defense forces?

I don't know man but South's really been acting like a pu**y of late. It's disgusting.
I agree. South Korea should have had a more aggressive response. The current changing of the leadership in North Korea is the right time for it.

I guess they are afraid of a disproportionate response. I mean North Korea doesn't have much to lose but Seoul does.

it's because SK knows that they have something to lose UNLIKE NK.
why would SK wanna damage it's economy by starting war!

Wrong again, but thanks for making a false assumption on behalf of the "Chinese boys" here.

Anything which causes instability in the region threatens China's interests, and threatens the status quo.

A Korean war would damage the regional economy, as well as sending hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of North Korean refugees streaming over the Chinese border.

Any way you look at it, a war in the Korean peninsula is bad news for China.

Any provocation that increases the chances of war, is a bad thing to me, regardless of which side makes the provocation. And before you make another assumption, I consider the lethal shelling of Yeonpyeong island, to be a provocative act by the North.

Escalation dominance - "Escalation dominance means you can control the pace of escalation."

“Escalation Dominance” - Right Web - Institute for Policy Studies

If both sides in a conflict believe they possess escalation dominance, escalation becomes likely. But both sides can’t be right. Wars are typically the result of miscalculation. It is remarkable that miscalculation over North Korean brinkmanship has not already occurred.

Gents...It is precisely this kind of thinking that get a country conquered. Assume that NKR genuinely do feel that they have nothing to lose, we would have had a second Korean War a long time ago. But this is not true...No country has nothing to lose, even an artificial ones like the two Koreas. But precisely because SKR has so much more to lose, much more should have been done, diplomatically and militarily, to assert itself, to show that it is willing to fight for what is clearly a superior society.

Then why so much of the Chinese boys' attention is on the US and South Korea?

North Korea will need the best air defense it can get. Has China already supplied its HQ-9 to NK? Or is PLA troops already stationed in NK to defend airspace? If they have the drills on Tuesday, I would love to hear about F-22 and B-2 being shot down on Wednesday.

Agreed! But should Seoul go to war over a few artillery shells? I mean, surely there's a threshold which I assume North Korea hasn't passed yet. IMHO Seoul is doing the right thing by being prepared.

So if war does knock on their door, then at least they will know what to do.
