I am staying clear of threads claiming CPEC and JF-17 as great successes. Reality will soon come a-callin' on its own.

But but...

I honestly think CPEC could set Pakistan on a better path. CPEC will take years to calculate the effects of. Just the 2-4% of lost GDP works out to $4.6-9.2 billion, but that's without the benefits of easier mobility, in the undeveloped portions of the country.

1. $billions to upgrade the transmission lines would have been worth while.
2. A few $billion to make small dams and reservoirs through out the country would have added electricity faster and begun to prepare for climate change.
3. Inviting the Japanese or S. Koreans to the party.
4. Increased PR by diplomatic corps.

It's so bizarre. The main security concern about CPEC should be Pakistanis', since in a few years China might claim it as its own sovereign territory, as it does the SCS. But there's no word of that, is there?

It makes a certain kind of perverse sense, actually. Pakistan is betting that Chinese involvement will help it keep Baluchistan while billions are made from the contracts for preferred companies. So it is important to sell the vision no matter what.

The only thing America can do is to pull out of its hat a false flag terrorist event on its soil and then blame it on Pakistan and use it as a pretext to launch a full fledged war against Pakistan. But again, where would such action would lead the world order into, that is a unknown.
I would not put it past those who have power in the US.

.
It won't quite work that way. China does not recognize a border with Pakistan or even such a thing as "Pakistani" territory, it only recognizes territory "under the actual control of Pakistan" - so if Pakistan loses Kashmir or Baluchistan then China, by its own lights, can claim it for itself.

Usually in China's overseas development schemes the money goes to Chinese companies and Chinese workers, but maybe in Pakistan it'll be different?

Pakistan has already managed to foist the cost of raising another division on CPEC, and that is just the start of the milbus bandwagon on a roll. China will not take over Pakistani territory directly, so it is a safe bet for Pakistan. After all, what could go wrong? Or so goes the thinking.

When some one thinks whole world is against them, it's time that some one saw a shrink ASAP.

There are many ports near Gwadar that have better connectivity and that can handle way more volume.
More importantly, there are many ways of destroying something than attacking it.

So tell me about all the oil we got from Afghanistan in return for all the money we spent in the "false flag" operation there. It was all about oil wasn't it?
It was not about oil. It was getting a base in the middle of Asia to project american power. OBL gave america an excuse to carry it out.

.
I sincerely wish that Pakistani members would stop using 'false flag' wherever rational argument or logical thought fails them. It reminds one of the comic use of the 'bottle of oil' by Aristophanes in The Frogs.

Why you have the rights only to say false flag

I see no reason for China to contemplate expanding into Pakistan.
Fifty years ago "nobody saw a reason for China to contemplate expanding into" the South China Sea, either. And fifty years before that Tibet was Han-free (today Han are 30%+ of the populace) and still ruled by the Dalai Lama.

Pakistan is more likely to scuttle CPEC than the U.S

should just let China have 100% control in CPEC, in designing, financing, and building everything.

bureaucracy will kill CPEC before US

Blaming USA is the fashion-du-jour in Pakistan these days
Pot calling the kettle black

USA has been trying for the last 15 years to destablize Pakistan, Can you tell me where this TTP came from after US arrived in Afghanistan as thier was no such thing as TTP before CIA arrived again in Afghanistan after the soviets.

Disrupting CPEC and afghan peace process has been in full swing, just like killing Mullah mansoor and anouncing the death of mullah umar one day before the peace talks. Mullah Mansoor resides in afghanistan and visits Iiran, UAE and Pakistan but why was he specifically targeted in Pakistan and not other places? you can guess pretty much easily

As US somehow wants to Turn afghan taliban against Pakistan, but i am pretty much sure Pakistan has told afghan taliban about the US plans.

A safe afghanistan is only in Pakistan interests and not India and USA.

I don't think it's in the U.S best interest to destablize Pakistan, especially considering you have nukes and we don't want them falling into the wrong hands.

if this was true then why are the U.S and Pakistan allies??

just tell us Yankees to go home

When we determined and committed as a nation, USA will be never able to ....

In past, they sanctioned us and pressurised Pakistan not to become nuclear, rest everyone knows, were they able to prevent that happening?

They sanctioned Iran for many decades; What is the result? Iran emerged as more self reliant, more confident, more powerful and more self esteemed.

USA can only think what is good in their interest and they will action to achieve whether the goal is realistic or not. They will never be able to guarantee the outcome. USA is on killing spree, which is their speciality but they will never able to convince.

What happened in Vietnam to them a shameful defeat awarded to them by a determined nation.

What they are achieving in Afghanistan, world super power soliders equipped with state of the art arms and equipment and enjoying air superiority are getting @$$ beating by handful of X-mujahideen/present terrorists (USA's own product) and are poorly equipped; OMG, since last 15 years and how many more years to come, God knows.
