The Indians apparently find a piece of AMRAAM deep inside India territory amongst debris spread over 100 metres - and instead of concluding that the debris belongs to one of their aircraft shot by an AMRAAM, they conclude it means an F16 was shot down in Pak

Then, instead of reviewing satellite imagery or the data available from their own strike aircraft, they rely on the fact that PAF STRUCK BACK, to conclude they probably hit something

No, peacetime Rules Of Engagement call for the intruding aircraft to be warned and forced to return. Airspace violations occur all the time between India and Pakistan, and that is what the process is to avoid escalation - warning intruding jets instead of shooting them down.

The PAF did not know that the IAF had dropped bombs until reports started coming in after the IAF had left Pakistani airspace, and that is when the Pakistani response was put in place.
