Why was Gandhi killed?

Godse was a scumbag whose only claim to fame is that he killed someone who commanded the love & respect of his countrymen & women. What army did Gandhi command? Gandhi could get his way only because he was, by a great distance, the tallest leader of the land & to whom great love & respect was given by his people. Any two bit moron can fire a gun, maybe Ajmal Kasab can be a hero to some who celebrate his cause. Means nothing. Godse or anyone else couldn't match Gandhi's hold on his people, that's why like all cowards & pretenders, they needed a gun.

o_O How is patriotism connected to libido? Have you read My Experiments with Truth? Do you know why Gandhi's son converted to Islam and then back to Hinduism? This is a very slippery ground. :)

Oh I'm sorry it is well known that Gandhi was a crappy father. The son rebelled and turned into a muslim and Gandhi's stand was that it was his personal decision ( confirmed by his wife's letters to the son). Bhakt army cooks up all kinds of things.

First you accept my point and then call me ein soldat der Bhakt Armee. In any case, this generation does not consider Godse as a villain, at all. We don't consider Gandhi as a hero either. It's not black and white for me. If it's for you, great. :enjoy:

By 1948, Gandhi had become God. Nobody could oppose him, nobody could go against him, nobody could have a different opinion. India would most probably have ceased to exist if he lived longer. He did not want industries, wanted to abolish the army, etc etc.

Bull SHit. When Nehru wanted to go the socialist route, Gandhi asked him to be cautious. He was not against development, he was against the idea that putting up factories alone can solve problems. Most importantly he wanted growth in the villages- an ideal India works for even today.

Godse is a villin for ever generation except the right wing. They've tried to replace Gandhi with Veer Savarkar for decades, not happening. Gandhi's place in India's history is very secure. Will continue to be.

Please read his own book. He was against an industrial economy. He wanted an agrarian India. Since the documents are not out, we can only speculate.

I beleive that if someone had assasinated Hitler in 1936, his case would have been similar to that of Godse. Hitler had the same qualities - mass appeal, peaceful approach/image(in 1936 he was apparently quite pragmatic and peacefulin world view) made it impossible for anyone to oppose him. The Gestapo was not as evil as say in 1941. Papen, Hjalmar etc tried but could not beat his popular support. Hitler by 1938 had become God for Germany. In less than 1 year, he had plunged Germany into the World War.

By 1948, Gandhi was also God, no leader could refuse him. Every tantrum, every demand had to be given into - he was India. India was him.

Trust us pls. We will erase him. In time. Not all of him, obviously. But a lot.

Killing him prevented a full scale civil war amongst the Hindus of India. Those aligned with the Congress against those with the RSS.

A war that would have dwarfed in ferocity that which was fought between the Muslims on one side and the Sikhs and Hindus on the other.

It still happened. Plenty of Hindus were attacked by Hindus after the assasination. but things would have been worse. His demands that Sikhs and Hindus should be happy to die in the hands of their Muslim brethren during the riots did not go down well with many. Those who counter this previous sentence will be forced to hang their head in shame...I don't want to put the exact quote here.

A- you are of the deluded group that lazily thinks that 'liberal economy' automatically leads to growth. Until the 1970s even America had huge sections of it's economy form airlines to railways regulated. Second- being 'capitalist' doesn't mean growth. Pakistan has been capitalist since inception. Gandhi's agrarian bias was not only relevant then, it is relevant even today. The rest is BS by an amateur understanding of history. ' A little knowledge is a dangerous thing'. You aren't gonna erase anything. Every now and then some bhakt wil make some noise and then we will ignore them.

Gandhi's greatest crime was support of the British war effort and the subversion and demonization of Bose's.

Hey Raam. :hitwall:

You are supposed to say that with a theatrical sigh. Not banging of your head.

Demonization of Bose was a side effect. He did not demonize and actually dethrone him(literally) because his adversary was Bose. He did it because he himself was Gandhi, hence infallible. And collaboration with the British was a remarkable quality - in both the wars. His defence was that Hitler was the bigger evil. So we could have stayed neutral, no? And what about the first war? :azn:
Also you miss the Congress support for the Khilafat movement.

I am a right winger after all. :D

He was and will always be gratefully remembered as a British stooge. Till the end.

Including the agreement to be a Dominion. Like a wag tail dog thrown a bone from the kitchen sink.
