VietNamNet Bridge - BKAV, the manufacturer of BPhone, the first Vietnam-made smartphone which made its debut recently, said BPhones were being made at a factory in Cau Giay District in Hanoi. The company said it would invite reporters to visit the factory in the near future.

Vietnamese users now can see an actual BPhone, and only need several days to get the BPhone they ordered. However, they still doubt the high-tech product is made in Vietnam.

At the BPhone launching ceremony on May 26, BKAV showed a video clip about the BPhone production process. However, it did not clarify where the factory was located.

This once again has raised doubts that BKAV does not have a factory in Vietnam and that BPhone, like other phones bearing Vietnamese brands, are made overseas and then imported to Vietnam for domestic sale.

Do Thi Thu Hang, BKAV’s Public Relation Director, has said that BKAV was planning to invite reporters to visit the factory in Cau Giay district in Hanoi.

“We have realized that the mass media and those who are interested in BPhone really want to visit the factory and we will organize an excursion for them,” Hang said.

According to Hang, the factory in Cau Giay can churn out tens of thousands of products a month.

Meanwhile, BKAV is getting ready for the 2.3 hectare production base in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. If the demand for BPhone is high, BKAV will increase the production capacity to hundreds of thousands of products a month.

When asked how many Vietnamese parts are in a BPhone, Hang said: “BPhone is a smartphone designed by BKAV and made in Vietnam.”

The appearance, mechanical engineering, electronics and software design all were conducted at BKAV’s headquarters.

In general, Hang said, the BPhone production process is just like Apple’s. However, while Apple outsources all phases of the production to its partners, BKAV implements some of the phases.

While reporters are still waiting for BKAV’s promise to organize a tour to BPhone factory, the reporters of An Ninh Tien Te have visited the factory.

“The place which is believed to be the BPhone factory is located on a small alley surrounded by car sale showrooms,” the newspaper reported.

It is a house that looks like a workshop located at No 99 Pham Hung Road, situated between Quoc Binh and Thai Hoc car showrooms. The sign that shows it is BKAV’s factory is a board with the word “SmartHome” erected between the two showrooms.

Bkav said it has received more orders for its Bphone smartphone than expected after it started to sell the first made-in-Vietnam phone online last week.

HCM City has the largest number of Bphone smartphone buyers, followed by Hanoi, Da Nang, Nghe An and Quang Ninh.

The company plans to start delivering Bphone smartphones to the first customers from next week and those who booked it later will have to wait two to three weeks.

we call it cultural exchange, a concept that may be alien to you. many Viet people like fast food because they want to try something new. Viet resto are very popular in America. we bring foods as pho, spring rolls, banh mi to America, while the Yankees bring fast foods to Vietnam. Win win. Viet food is seen as cultural high dining with long queue of people waiting to get a seat, while chinese foods ...ok you know...as seen at lower end.

Pho is good.

Pho is likely be a derivative of our very tasty heavenly Beef Brisket Noodles:

in plain soup base served with "He-Fan" - a broad kind of noodle made from rice flour:

But the so called "plain soup" is actually brewed in a soup base made from the essential flavours of cow bones, meat and spices for long hours.

You are too clueless. Pho is more than plain noodle soup that some Chinese like you claim coming from China. Pho is the soul of Vietnam. In the West when people eat pho they think of friendly people, Viet girls in Ao Dai, thousand years old culture and great beach.

Not really. Big bowl, lots of soup, and cheap are the 3 things associated with it. How can you sit in a shanty pho place eating some cheap stuff and think of the great beach? lol..

It is a mistake if you think pho or generally Viet food is cheap. it is cheap in VN, but not cheap elsewhere. 1 bowl of pho costs 1-2 dollar in VN, in Germany or America you pay 10-15 dollar of bowl, but London, a bowl will make you 25-30 dollar poorer. at best Viet resto you don´t get a seat at evening if you haven´t reserved it.

I'm salivating just by look at those pictures. Having grown up eating Yue cuisine (although I'm not cantonese), brings back good memories.

You guys should start a thread dedicated to Chinese cuisine, from street vendors to local delicacies to fancy restaurants. It would be a learning experience for us all and a show case for those unfamiliar with the diversity of Chinese cuisine.

Cool. Pho is cheap meal for old white man to bring old Vietnamese woman to when he want some benefit after

The exploded batteries came from China factories if I remember. VN produces 50% all worldwide Samsung phones soon 100%, because it makes no sense to produce in Korea. Or China because of higher wages there. The Koreans can concentrate on R&D.

From the news today, Chinese furniture factories are moving to Vietnam, because it makes economically sense. Win win for everybody.
