Why South Asians Are More Likely To Get Diabetes Than Europeans

AJ plus is literally a channel with a strong Pakistani American diaspora presence
They have mostly Pakistani editors, hosts, producers even the doctor interviewed is pakistani

So really don't see the "western" media bias...
I saw the video.

What does famines have to do with Diabetes and heart disease?

Your diet and lack of exercise leads to such diseases.

India must have a different factor in feed conversion ratio if that is the case, as in the U.S. beef cattle has about 3x less efficient feed conversion ratio to chickens
Interesting point. What would be this ratio for Pork? Also, is Pork a high status meat in U.S.?
In India's case, It could also be a supply and demand issue - Hindus are more likely to eat chicken than beef thus demand for Chicken is higher.

.
Funny part is that obesity is the most common disease in the developed world

It takes less feed for pork than beef, but U.S. pork is a very popular export, so that drives the price up as well.

Americans suck at cooking mostly, and pork takes more effort to cook than beef, so people just buy beef if given the choice.

Yeah the demand and supply situation in India makes sense.

None of these will be problems soon.

Simply needs some short term genetic editing to lower appetite similar to mRNA vaccines.

By the time that happens (maybe 30 years) they better create a genetic editing solution that can make me 18 years old again.

Historical Fact -- Bengal was the richest Province during the Mughal Rule. But when the British took over due to traitor MIR JAFFAR, the British looted and plundered Bengal for 200 years. During the British rule, Millions of people died due to 12 Famines listed as follows. THIS IS BECAUSE ALL THIS FOOD AND RESOURCES WERE GOING TO UNITED KINGDOM !!!

1- 1769–1770 - Great Bengal Famine -- 10 Million People Dead !
2-1943 -- Bengal Famine -- 1.5 Million People Dead !
3- 1765 to 1947 British Rule -- there were 12 Famines in total.

We now have Pakistan under control of another COLONIAL Power. And if we have history repeating then BE PREPARED FOR FAMINE !

It wasn't as if Siraj-ud-Daulah was any great ruler:

Its not incorrect in the observation however. South Asians are more likely to get diabetes. Not for the reasons they are suggesting.

Thanks for raising my Bengali after dinner sweets habit again (heads to refrigerator).

Shakkar aur Chinee Zindabad !!

That image is basically all Bengali sweets.

Bangladesh after the 1970 Cyclone did

Yes for @Sainthood 101 bhai's information Bangladesh was still EP back then. And Central govt. (perceived) inaction was something Awami League used to activate Bengalis against the central govt. in 1971.

Most famines are actually more results of mismanagement than lack of food. That is exactly what happened in 1970 and Bengalis were left with the impression that the Central govt. in Islamabad "didn't give a $hit". Which may not have been the real situation.

It wasn't as if Siraj-ud-Daulah was any great ruler:

The British wrote that history. Victors re-write history to suit their narratives. Same thing happened in WWII.

It is mostly genetics and of course eating habits too.

Every Bangladeshi dinner is followed by something sweet (in fact several types such as phirnee, laddoo, rasgulla and a couple of dozen other varieties), especially in dawats.

If you don't have sweets, it is a major downer and an insult to your guests...

In WB, sweets are part of any religious event, Pujas, Parvana and also social occasion such as weddings. Good news always accompanies sweets which is universally South Asian. But in Bangladesh and WB the intensity of sweets consumption is way higher.

Never happened in actual colonization or pre colonial history but will happen in percieved colonization just because the favourite political leader is saying so

My bad,

Bangali sweets are one of the best in SA hands down

Humans are animals, first and foremost. We need to look at how wild animals live to see how our bodies are formed by evolution.

The problem is we were designed for pro-creation not longevity. Technically anybody over probably the age of 35 is living on unproven evolution.

IT job boom and working from home also doesn't help in this. Even if you go to office you'll be treated with a free buffet and you'll fatten up in no time eating such everyday, one of reasons tech parks usually have gyms.

Roti salan chawal meetha...
Roti salan chawal meetha...
Roti salan chawal meetha...

Break the cycle, with bajra, makai Chana, gosht, rokhi sabzi... And get rid of diabetes.

Chickens raised in farms have horrible lives. They sit all day in their own poo. They suffocate from body heat of other chickens. They can barely stand up because they don't grow leg bones and muscles.

Same thing is true of pigs but I don't eat pork anyway.

I gladly pay more to buy free range chickens and eggs because it is ethically the right thing to do.

I think we should all forego eating any meat and instead get our protein from egg. But fish can be brought for cats. Egg has good protein. I once was underweight and then I started eating two egg parathas a day ( the remaining two meals being normal ) and it was I think in slightly more than two months that my weight increased by around 25 kgs. Egg is tasty too. Egg good ! There is an old campaign in India whose slogan is "Sunday ho ya Monday, roz khao ande".

But if we are missing the texture of meat then we now have plant-based burgers and so on.

I love Mishti Doi ( sweet curds ).

@jamahir little brother has entered the chat.

@Communism, laal salaam to you from an Indian comrade. We can talk in the 'Whatever' thread.

That's too drastic.

These parathas, and all kind of carbs are the biggest culprits basically. So refrain from carbs as much as possible. Moderate amount of carbs is OK.

What are carbs ? Please tell me. 🤔 You may be thinking these parathas are the oily kind but they were a simple arrangement of a regular chapati put on the cooking slab, heated, egg put on it, heated and then another chapati put on it and then the whole thing turned up and down to properly cook it. This was one egg paratha and I ate two of them with mint chutney.

Wheat rice are high carb foods. Eat lentils instead. They also have carbs but way better for health. Similarly all sweet things are generally carbs or carbohydrate rich foods. These foods produce fats in body, not the oily things.
