Give me one GOOD reason why she should change her name???
For official purposes we just need the marriage certificate to prove that I'm married to a man.And endorsing husband's name on a separate page (without adding his name to her name )to your passport for international purposes.
Not even in a muslim country have they challenged my maiden name or have they asked me why I havent changed my name??
It is not about being a feminist...I just dont see a logic behind this.
Is it like putting a seal on woman's name that "NOW I OWN HER"???
It's not that man own her but they both are one family itself.it will not called a marriage if one of them start thinking like this.if you love some one these these things don't matter. I don't advocate if women forced to change her name against her will.As far I know in marriage these small things won't matter except if its just a contract were both man and wife will act as two parties.

Yes marriage is an union ...but lets face if the man doesnt need to change his name then why should the female???
Give me one GOOD reason.I've already proven to you that it serves no practical purpose.

Right lil bro!
Its so important that the family also accepts you.But I think this problem exists only during the initial phase of a marriage. After 4-5 years nobody really cares.
Yes it could've been worked out.But now that its over...I hope you're not sour about it.

I was heart broken when we broke up. Severely depressed, she was my "first love". To be honest, I have not moved on from her because in all dates after her -- i always compare them to her. I miss everything that we used to do; like cooking together, cleaning together, washing clothes and folding them afterwards together, etc. I miss her perfect imperfections; all the things i used to tease her about -- like her burping out loud, her very loud laughter, her mood swings, her 'monthly' cramps (which i would go out and buy chocolates and salted pretzels to help her cope, LOL).

Still looking for the future Mrs. @Nihonjin1051 .

I guess thats just the right time to pop such questions.
ha ha ha! caught off guard LOL! I agree.

ヤバイ。これは男て言う人間だ。ヤバイ。

I'm somewhat surprised to meet a Japanese person on the Pakdefense forums. What brings you to this den of terrorists, お侍様?

The name changing is a 'cultural' thing not a religious one; 'cause Muslim Women in ages past (Arabs still I think) carry their Father's names.

Really?

So how would it be like?

Let's say there was a woman named Fatima, and her father's name is Ishaq. Would it be: Fatima ibn Ishaq ?

May be to avoid confusion in children surname after marriage.hehe on serious note it's social old custom which continuing.it will be followed on individual basis as society will evolve in future

Reminds me of a song "all of me"- John legend.

Don't you worry lil bro...you're just a 24year old guy and there's still time.
But now stop comparing every gal you date with your ex. :)

Yes an age old custom which is not needed any more so let's get over it. :)

Yes ! :agree:

Though ibn or bin means 'son of' for a woman its 'bint' as in 'daughter of' !

For e.g some of the famous women in Islam were as follows:

Khadija bint Khuwaylid - the Prophet (PBUH)'s wife

Fatima bint Muhammad - the Prophet (PBUH)'s daughter

Aminah bint Wahb - the Prophet (PBUH)'s mother

All are named after their fathers.
