Trust me urdu speaking nationalists are just the same. Hate everyone around them and unwilling to accept their prominent position in Pakistan with urdu the national language, muhajirs having highest gdp per capita and education, and wealth being skewed towards them. Karachi accounts for 30% of revenue for Pakistan and is the capital of Sindh. Completely in the hands of muhajirs financially, socially and demographically. On the other hand Sindhis have a worse poverty rate in rural sindh (95% sindhi) than even Balochistan which is the poorest province in the country.
This is not only a problem in Punjab. I mean what is the logic of having ethnic parties. Its like a fashion statement these days. Punjabis and Muhajirs are at the top of the national heirarchy, this is not opinion but fact. Balochistan and parts of KPK are in a terrible situation and that is the only reason-no development and education occurring there that Afghans and Indians are exploiting and leading the youth astray.
I hate PMLN and its Punjabi chauvinism but I don't think these people will look at the bigger picture or change the way they vote for the benefit of Pakistan or for a uniting ideology even if it makes Pakistan a fractured state of varying ethnic groups each voting for an ethnic party. Their thinking is small and based on the fracturing concept of regionalism. Hence no point arguing with them. You argue with someone willing to change his ways and try for a better Pakistan, those who accept the status quo and corruption as a natural part of the system. No wonder people lose hope in the system and set their rocks in a foreign boat of another country. Pakistanis aren't ready to think beyond ethnicity. The voting trends can be seen very clearly if there hasn't been rigging. PMLN has its base in Punjab, PPP in Sindh, ANP in KPK, MQM in Karachi and hyderabad, so on. The ones defending pmln are part of the corrupt system and part of the wider problem of tolerating corruption.
This ethnic divide was deliberately highlighted by N$'s spiritual dad (Zia) when partyless elections were conducted to counter PPP - fully knowing that this will create hell for Pakistan in future.
Ghulam Ishaq Khan spearheaded that under direct guidance of Zia and that faultline was fully exploited by Nawaz Sharif to divide country when he ran his whole campaign in 1988 on this slogan:
Jaag Punjabi Jaag
Teri Pagg Nou Lag Gaye Aag
And...
Jaag Punjabi Jaag
Teri Pagg Nou Lag Gaya Daagh
This along with ISI funding and rigging turned the tide when PPP won the National Assembly (almost) majority and Provincial Assembly in Punjab was gifted to N$.
40+ independents were bought in Changa Manga and Murree Punjab House and rest everyone knows what resulted.
Those seeds sowed by N$ - further divided the nation and now we see how Ch votes for Ch etc., and this is how we welcomed 21st century!
