Not just that reason, there are other reasons, like water conservation,

water requirement for for production of ..
Beef : 16726 m³/ ton crop

Pork : 5469 m³/ ton crop

Rice : 2552 m³/ ton crop
Wheat
: 1437 m³/ ton crop

Environmental impact of meat production - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

along with that you need huge pasture lands to graze these cattle
More over , I am in favor of expanding milk and dairy farming. Which is more long lasting per cattle

If you are looking for environmental protection, there are things of far more importance and relevance that needs to be done than a ban on beef. These are poor excuses IMO. I am can stand against slaughtering productive cows, considering the religious significance. In my place people won't do that, and even if done, people avoid that meat. Cow meat taste bad too. Why should be there be a ban on slaughtering bulls or unproductive cows? What do you think farmers with unproductive cattle do?

secular is letting everyone do what ever they want and not bringing religion into the matters of state.

what you have is hindu nationalist government.

I'm not defending pakistan or anything, but there they allow licenses for alcohol consumption for hindus, christians and other non-muslims. And it's a hardcore muslim (95%+muslim) country complete with a whole set of terrorist organizations and still they can tolerate a minority consuming alcohol (strictly against their religion). Offcourse there are problems(attacks on minorities etc), but alcohol is totally available to a non-muslim in Pakistan by law.

In that sense, a terrorist Islamist state is more tolerant than India, a self proclaimed secular state.

It is passed by government and you have to follow it. Thank you :) Be secular, try to tolerate.

Red meat does not suit people in warm places, it is a known fact.. and it is advised not to eat it during monsoon, rain and summers.

More over there is a research going on in developed countries, where Govt will make a highly advanced system to control and regulate the food available in market, according tot season, climate, suitability and eating habits of the people of the region. They are seriously looking forward to implement this system.

EHP – Climate Change and Food Security: Health Impacts in Developed Countries

Right accross the border in pakistan and further to the west in afghanistan and in other warm parts of the world, people freely eat beef and even in India people do consume beef, no problems specific to warm climate areas reported.

It is passed by government and you have to follow it. Thank you :) Be secular, try to tolerate.

Try to tolerate intolerance and stupidity ?

So its bad.

What are the ways to stop this menace?

Less cows by not making them have sex ?

Banning farmers from raising cows?

Stopping cows on earth who have gone past prime and stopped lactation?

What are the suggestions??

Because of religious belief. Bull, cow , ox, slaughter is not allowed in Hinduism. Bhagwan Krishna has said it, it is unethical. So we have to follow.
More over Bulls are used in mountainous regions and is high demand of bulls to plough fields .. because tractors cant do step farming. They can be sued there.

This is rather disturbing, need a few mroe details.

Do Hindus eat beef in Kerala (Muslims and Christians I understand)? And the beef in Kerala includes cow beef? Or just buffalo meat?

Yes, Hindus eat beef in Kerala.

Beef in Kerala includes cow beef too, including that of productive cow. However, its not that common, and people (including Muslims and Christians) avoid it. Cows aren't publicly slaughtered either (usually)

I support because our Religion teaches us not to kill cows and eat them.
Hindus used to eat beef, is peddled by Marxist/Communist writers and no wonder these articles come from the last bastions of Communists that is Kerala and West Bengal.
Hindus don't eat beef, Scriptures abhor beef eating and slaughter of Cows. There was a big thread about that recently, you can check it out.
The OP of this article automatically assumes every Hindu eats beef, Just like its easy to assume every Muslim eats Pork.
This is what happens when a Minority rules over Majority in states like these.
Are you sure????
read this or post # 157....
Who says hindus never ate non veg??
And btw Maithili brahmins, saraswat brahmans and brahmans of south kanara 're heavy meat eaters, Kshtriyas as pointed out in post#157 were always non vegetarians.
In my family almost everyone's a vegetarian but we don't have any issues with those who eat non-veg or beef. And I expect ppl to be a lil more liberal minded and not force one's eating habits on others.

raising cows and producing meat are two different things :)

In my state, beef is cheaper than pork. I used to eat beef daily when I was a kid. I hardly eat beef nowdays. Pork is more popular here but I like chicken.
which state you are from??

Most of our cow meat industry has its beef from cows raised for milk.

We dont have much meat farms in India except for buffalo, due to lower costs.

Hence both are same.

They ate beef because their land was not fertile as ours, and Pakistanis ahaha forget about them.

Its is banned in Hinduism, Bhagwan Krishna has said. So try to respect our belief! And be more tolerant .please adhere secularism sir. :)

You cannot apply the needs of a particular religion for a whole state or region, not in India. Buddhism is against harming any animals, so should there be a law to ban all non-vegetarians for the sake of Buddhism?

I am very well aware of the uses of cattle in farming and agriculture. But what do you think a farmer should do with a bull thats weak to do any work or cow thats no longer productive, if they can't slaughter it?

now that has been stopped, cows will not be slaughtered. :) and we will make it sure that this rule is enforced in every state, with regional relaxations and geography.

.

I can show you n number of references where it shows beef and other non veg eating by hindus in BC
