Salaam ,

Why do men who wear shalwar kameez are considered not equally richer as those who wear pant shirt in pakistan nowadays ?

Why most people in pakistan don't want to wear their national dress ?
Why shalwar kameez wearing men are perceived as'poor ' and uneducated ? :what:

.
May be its true in some cases, people do somehow tend to judge on one's dress............. but as soon as you start talking all falls in place.

Actually nowadays people who wear s.k know they'll be perceived as poor so they wear coat over it to look cool .

Not the case actually shalwar suit is much costlier then trousers (sports trousers and t-Shirts) now days.

Han . Landa bazar me pant shirt sasti milti hin :D .

But you should wear your national dress and our designers should also work for their national dress to make it more cool .

I cannot say about others but I have always been proud of my traditional Pakistani dresses. I have travelled to Pakistan wearing Salwar Kameez before and even travelled to London for 90% of the journey wearing salwar kameez and changing in the plane before it landed in London for the sake of "jaisa des waisa bhes".

I find disgrace when people assume someone to be inferior or superior on the basis of dress code. I have had issues at the airport when I spoke to people wearing jeans and shirt and upon speaking to me, I realised they felt if I was inferior to them on the basis of my attire and upon speaking to me and knowing that I was travelling to Europe, they rather started feeling inferior all of a sudden. I really don't know find this all to do with one's being better or worse person but such problems does exists.

A nice quality Kurta Shalwar will cost you minimum PKR 5,000 and it can go up to 8,000 or more. While jeans (normal) and T - shirt or a Shirt ....... the whole package you can buy within range of 4 to 5,000

Part 2 of my above post

The only time I enjoyed was once I was sitting in a restaurant somewhere in Pakistan and a gentleman entered the restaurant and sat beside my table. He was wearing western dress and very good watch. From the word he spoke, I immediately realised that he was a foreigner and was boasting about his status and all.

So after listening to his nonsense for 10-15 minutes I politely asked him Sir are you a foreigner and he said yes and I said your watch looks really beautiful and as usual his reply was, oh yes I bought it from Spain :D

and I asked him whereabout in Spain Sir? and he was like oh you wouldn't even know such a place so forget it but its somewhere in Barcelona (due to salwar kameez I guess) :(

So I asked him again about the area in Barcelona and he was shocked when I even knew the exact place he had purchased the watch from as I had been travelling to Spain for holiday back then. The guy was just a student and started feeling like an alien in Pakistan but it was nice to see him embarrassed (for lesson sake) by the way he was boasting about his status so I still remember that incident

Similar issue happened with the lady at the Islamabad International Airport when she was boasting so much that she had come from Switzerland and wouldn't let anybody speak to her if they were wearing anything but western dress... She was so arrogant in my opinion so I humbly asked her location and she replied Geneva and similar find-an-address quiz lead me to her street and she was shocked and surprisingly happy when I mentioned a shopping centre on her street and the mosque (inaugurated by Saudi King) opposite that shopping centre and she was like --- oh wahan se 1 minute ke fasle pe mera ghar hai... tum to baray taiz nikle maine socha tum koi paindu ho ge

Although I was wearing very expensive salwar kameez at that time... par it doesn't matter if you wear 20,000usd of salwar kameez you will remain desi with that

Lol really where ? Among some burger kids ? Definetly not when you talk about grown ups...

I'm a lawyer from a pretty well off family ... I work in a firm whose president is a former AG ... I'm 26 and I have a good social circle and we wear shalwar kameez (with waist coat or jackets) or a suite on formal occasions ...

Guess you are talking about useless burgers in their teens or 20s who act like kids living off their fathers money.

Who considers it lower ??? Its considered most decent dressing among educated people.

Elite class and pseudo liberals are an exception who feel proud wearing the torn jeans and shirts which could show of their "Wealth"..

Still at EID, Juma Mubarik and Baraat men wear Shalwaar Qameez..
I don't know about others but in my area wearing it makes you look more decent and handsome.

@DESERT FIGHTER Kis kis ko btayen gay k u are 6''??? :what:

A lot of it also depends on how you carry off the clothes you wear...

Such examples are visible in every shopping mall of pakistan.

You know I think it's only people of balochistan that wear shalwar kameez the most , daily routine, office, work, family , functions .. everywhere only our national dress :p . We're more pakistanis lol :D . Kidding .

Shalwar kamees is more graceful and more expensive for that matter. Moreover, the trend of Shlwar Kameez is rising these days as a formal dress and in some cases, like wedding (barat day), it is surpassing english suits.
