Why India chose to disappoint the US

Do you expect the US to treat India better than how US treat Britain and Australia

Who expects US to treat India as britain or Australia.? I know how US treats those boneless chickens. India does not owe anything to the US. Whatever assistance we have taken from US has been re-payed with business.

NO thanks India would never like that kind of treatment. We will not like to be pushed here and there like the poodle is by the master pat it when happy and throw it when angry. So no such treatment for us.

If the U.S was disappointed because it could not have a significant leverage over India ....then what India did was geo-politically correct. Tomorrow if the U.S wishes India to condemn Iran or Myanmar or try to influence India's foreign policy in anyway ....then India will be left regretting purchasing anything . In Strategically vital aquisitions , there should be no doubts . The Indo-U.S partnership can be further established by Civilian Nuclear trade , trade in other areas , intelligence sharing , maritime security etc etc

Diplomatic power and Military are two things which should never be compromised or shared either with the U.S or with any other country. If we yield on these two , then we might as well become another Australia, Britain or South Korea -like client state of the U.S.

We expect them to. Its another matter if they want to do it or not. India never going to toe US line. Britain and Australia could choose how they want their relationship with US to be! Its their prerogative.

If I'm not in this page, I won't even know that India is trying to buy new aircraft and American planes were rejected. Even if American planes were selected, it would be a none news here in the states. Ask any Indians here in America and they will tell you.

After Obama himself did the sales pitch, I hoped more americans would know that. But never mind. It also means not much negative publicity about India for not selecting US aircrafts.

i didn't expected there are so many indian members around.

the current situation in south asia is a sad one. just across Himalaya, those nations in east asia get along so well. they do have territory disputes, historic issues, maybe stretched by a thousand years, but they put aside all those problems. they are economic partners today.

india should take the lead, put aside border issues with China and Pakistan, calm down those pro-west and anti-pakistan, anti-china propaganda and noise from politicians who want to draw attentions. South Asia should be united in a platform of economic development. india should welcome china to join SAARC, instead if refusing the second largest economy coming into the play, without china, regianal economic alliance is not even possible, not to mention, China is also part of South Asia, isn't it, look at the map.

i hate to see the mistrust between india and pakistan, can we start the trust from regional economy?

we don't need to trade and commerce with you and your future is not bright, if not dark.

I know the road ahead of Pakistan is hard, but we will walk through this part.

Good point, then don't expect the US to share f-35 technology with India. Even after FAK/FA fail miserably.

You asked the question wrong.....you should be asking...

Does India want to be another Britain or Australia to the US?

The answer is no....We prefer an independent foreign policy and not simply tugging the US line on every Iraq, Libya or China (which is their motive).....

The article rightly states.....We want to be a partner...NOT the 51st state...

The only loss is to India. The F/A-18 Super Hornet was the best of the bunch. The Hornet's APG-79 AESA radar is much superior to the Rafale or Typhoon system, the missiles have combat-proven lethality, and the jets would have been cheaper as well.
