Why I wear a Burqa: Burqa gives protection and respect

No one is asking the women to change, but the thing is how long can a normal young dude resist a babe in bikini when she curls and folds and twists. Now you'll argue that most westerns and a few from your country dont just get carried away that easily as they have gone 'immune' to such things due to the repetitive visualization of the same, it no more attracts your eye, OK, so you want suggest that in order to get every man on this earth immunized we should make all the women folk of this world show maximum flesh so that when Mr Wannabe-Immune grows up he dont feel lusty and becomes what you call civilized.

i didnt mean that nor do i think wearing bikini in public is civilized, limit is the thing, and it must be understood by all.it is not always bout young dudes, parents with their kids around, also find it tricky with a horny fleshy babe showing off in public.......i meant other than burqa,we do have salwars, saris, and also to some extent jeans-tops.........in islam extrimist(no offence meant, infact religious extrimism of any kind wd be appropriate) areas women get bashed for wearing anything other than burqas including the above mentioned........is that civilized? Lust is one thing and succumbing to it is other......with proper security the later part disappears and a woman feels secured....thnx

I think you're missing the point here.

This Leslie character is not saying anything positive about the burkha.

She's saying the men in prison were more respectful towards her, because she identified herself as a Muslim woman.

It's like over in the West, the Burkha will not be viewed in a positive way by people.

It simple shows we all have a long way to go before we accept different cultures, and that every culture is guilty of the same discriminatory views.

Yes brother point taken. :enjoy:

But then it is proved that such criminals and serial rapists respect Muslim women. :D

You can't compare rape statistics like how you're doing.

But I'll agree rape statistics generally aren't correlated with the way people dress.

You got it completely wrong.

Islam doesnt order every women to wear burkha, but yes it orders them to cover themselves properly (burkha being only one of the ways)

Now the sari and shalwar kameez thing, if someone wears a shalwar kamiz which is 'not' a shalwar kamiz in actuality then there is no fun wearing it. Let me explain this, if the shalwar kamiz is so tight that it shows up everything, the shalwar is high till the shins and the neck is deep to show that fetish thing, then sorry sir this not what Islam yell us and this will not what a guud Muslim women would do.

More over if some wears a jeans a shirt (not sleeveless or even half sleeves) and it covers up everything that Islam ask her to cover it, and it is a guud dress, every Muslim women can wear it.

So the point is that any clothing how sacred it may if gives away the shape and skin is 'bad' and any dress that modern it may b if covers the body according to Islam is 'guud' to be worn, atleast for the Muslims!

i see many women in Pakistan wearing complete scarf on their heads showing themselfve as guud Muslims but at the same time they are also wearing tight kamiz with their stuff shouting out louad and shin high shalwars, so whats the fun in doing the scarf then.

And i also see many women wearing trousers and shirts (loose and complete ones) with a small scarf on their heads and in my opinion there is nothing bad in it.

i hope you got the point.

I can understand your concept on adjusting to the what present situation requires and for sake of your well being, start wearing burqua. But is it a social justice? Why social justice can be applied to men? Why women should be forced to do something rather fixing the men mentality?

The thing that is considered to be wrong by Islam is the Zinna (sex) wither by force or by choice.
And Islam considers “looking at women” also a kind of Zinna. And there it is, men are liable to protect their eyes and hearts from bad things. If all Muslim men follow this rule I believe there will be no need for women to (forcefully) wear burqahs. And one more thing Burqah is not an Islamic dress.

Lets leave a believer's conscience as something that is between the Creator and His creation, so long as laws are not effected and so long as rights of all are protected -- islamic or not, this is between believers and God, the laws of the state should not effect this.

Everyone, I wanted to emphasize the positive aspect of wearing a burqa which is not a sign of oppression, but a sign of protection and generating dignity.

Just listen to what Leslie insisted. She voluntarily opted for burqa, she was never forced. And she appreciated the good results of wearing a burqa.

Why you people are judging this story from a negative point of view?

And Indian members, please leave your Chankya diplomacy aside.

Good sides of the story..!!! She just said that all men are rapists man..!! Still you are praising the burkha..!!! Its not islam in question here.. but the perverted mindest of men.. that she is actuly highliting.. When she is covered up nobody bothered to disturb her and left her alone.. when she showed her face... people where hititng on her for jiggyza.. :tsk:

But on a serious note.. why was it in islam burqa is suggested.. is it really because of the notion that all men are pervets.. ;)

Um, no. But those who are perverted don't have it written on their forehead.

The Burqa is a symbol of modesty... If your idea of freedom equals topless and nude, then I consider that as oppression!

Islam gave the most rights to women, Alhamdulillah!

PS: 99.999% of women who wear the Burqa do it out of their love for Allah! They are righteous women, and may Allah bless these Muslims who are following their religion, Insha Allah! :pakistan:

Ummm this is kind of an insult to Muslims rather than anything to be proud of. It basically says we're such big horny dogs that we'd rape women if they aren't covered from head to toe.

Islam is being defined by the example of such twisted people... RAPISTS! This entire story really had no moral... Its just an incident that happened while she was confined with humans with little humanity.

They were talking about a jail! Ask yourself, what kind of people go to jail?:argh:

A clear case of attemped forced conversion by fundamentalist extremist islamist. A prime example of how non muslim females are targetted in Islamic nations and subjected to abuse, beating and rape. Only way you can survive in the ground level situation is by converting to Islam.

What kind of a premitive threat is that - If you dont want to be raped then convert to Islam or atleast wear traditional Islamic dresses?

What is wrong with you? Did you read the article, or are you simply a retarded Indian with no sense at all!

She is a Muslim, she did it out of choice, and in Islam their is NO force!

But Hinduism on the other hand promote hatred and intolerance.

When Islam gave women rights before any one else, Hindus persecuted women, and forced their beliefs on others, it is a shame!

Islam is the truth, Alhamdulillah! Your hatred won't take you anywhere good!

You have to be badly screwed up in your head to actually compare a prison situation to the society at large or to consider that a bunch of thugs in a prison cell are true representatives of the outside world. You have to be a mental contortionist to do that.

If in a society, a woman needs to cover herself from her head to toe to save herself, then it means that the society is composed of horny perverts. It doesn't speak too highly of that society or at least of the male component of that society. (On second thought, that society is, perhaps, a true representative of a prison)

Now many are saying that burqa is not forced. What exactly is this thing called "force" in the context of burqa. I am sure, a woman is rarely forced to wear a burqa with a gun held to her head or is rarely beaten up by her father, brother, husband or son for not wearing burqa. But what about "force" in disguise, like peer pressure or social discrimination.

Someone mentioned that to earn respect a woman must wear burqa or that a woman in burqa is more respected than the one who is not wearing a burqa. What is this, if not peer/social pressure.

In pre-islamic times women tended to wear head-dresses within the Arabian peninsular.

You will get some people argue it's obligatory, others say it's not. I tend to think it's not obligatory. Islam suggest modesty, not the Burkha specifically.

Burkha is basically a traditional Arab garb meant to be worn in the desert, to protect against the heat and sand. It became associated with Islam of course.

Blacks and whites may be genetically different, but women and men are biologically different. You talk about treating people as equals. Can women then play soccer with men as an opponent team? Can a man gives birth to a child too?

If you treat everyone as equal, then how can you leave your seat to a handicapped person inside a crowded bus? If you leave, then its not discrimination, if you do not, then you are depriving someone on the basis of the theory, social darwinism.

I have been talking about positive discrimination, but you took it as racism and negative discrimination. Very unfortunate.

So its official.. you treat women as a handicapped species.. who needs to be taken care off and helped as they can't survive in this world without the support of men right..!!!!

Its all in our heads man..!! By equality means.. you dont consider them or treat them as a fancy item in the cupboard. They too have emotions life career and a free mind and we gotta let them or rather they have the right to do what they want.

And there is also another side to it.. what if women finds our beard.. sexy.. our moustache sexy.. or our eyes sexy.. shouldnt we also wear a respectable burqa so that noones minds go the euthopian way..

It seems like locking up yourselves in a jail.. fearing that you might die in a road accident..!!!! So be free.. of all those cramped notions that women weigh 50 kgs and we weigh 100 kgs so we are a better species logic okk..!!!!!:agree:

I did read the article and comprehended it as well. The question is whether you DID????

She is a Muslim

Where does it say that she is a Muslim? provide me with that information from that twisted, ignorant and "RETARDED" comment

she did it out of choice

Another retarded comment. If it was out of choice why did she abandon it when leaving Jail? The article also mentions the dress she wore when she left the Jail if you read with your Islamist goggles put on a bench and with clean impartial eyes.

Islam their is NO force
I was stating what can be concluded from that article. It comes across as she was forced to wear Burqa because she was threatened with Rape.

But Hinduism on the other hand promote hatred and intolerance.

I could say the same and worse things about Islam. If you really want to get into a name calling contest then this forum is not ment for you. This is termed as trolling and inflamation.

When Islam gave women rights before any one else

Entire non-Islamic world thinks otherwise. So I might just be in Majority.

Your hatred won't take you anywhere good!

And similarly making uninformed BS comments won't take you anywhere.
