Since I sounded hostile, Just to elaborate: I used to call Bangalore "Bengaluru" while speaking Kannada anyway. It's easier to say "Bangalore" when speaking English though.

IMO, the city needed the name change to give us a sense of our culture and roots. I think Bangalore is a bit too westernized. I mean what's the first thing you think of when someone mentions Bangalore; IT, English speaking people and outsourcing right?
