Because Iran's influence can unite Muslims and lead them to the correct way which is fight against American Israeli interests before Islamic countries get ruined. Considering situation of MENA countries show many things. Many Islamic countries are involved in wars by Americans to supply West and Israeli interests. There are footmark of Americans in all wars in Islamic countries (such as Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen). American doctrine: ruin your enemy (by war, civil or proxy war) to secure your friend. American's doctrine for Iran's case is sanctions. Weaken your enemy as much as you can to secure your friend.

That's not entirely accurate. Does it? When Israel was supported by USA, Arab states surrounding it was supported by the Soviet Union. Moreover, when US or any other Western country was reluctant to give Israel the latest weapon of the era; Soviets supplied the Arab states with the latest weapons they possessed. However, Israel held on because of their tenacity. US begins to help Israel with much affection only after the Yom Kippur war and subsequent Camp David accords.
