Dude even the palestinian have a place in United States administration despite being one of the most unpopular bunch in USA. If it were China, all palestinians would had been turn into Rohingyas by now.

I HAVE to believe that Chinese govt. must have calculated the possible loss of business from Bangladesh when they actively supported Burmese Junta for business purposes. After all Burmese Junta HAS TO BE beholden to suppliers in China, as they are pretty much a world Pariah now.

We have to start doing a few calculations ourselves as well....diplomacy is a very complicated game.

Chinese government has made a huge mistake and has shown that it lacks geopolitical maturity. US would not be stupid enough that it would support mass murder and rape in the 21st Century.

China's actions will not just result in loss of business with BD but a permanent loss of trust by one of the few large, stable and rapidly growing industrialising countries. BD people were naturally pro-Chinese and are more neutral now.

Unlike the US, which can count on the whole Western world(including Latin America), Japan, South Korea, India etc to support it, China has just Pakistan and Myanmar now. Already N Korea has back-stabbed them, Myanmar has been acting like a whore selling themselves to the highest bidder, and Pakistan has no cultural similarity with them. The only thing that Pakistan and China have in common is they both dislike India.

After Bangladesh backstabbed us on Sonadia port, on the orders of the USA and India, the Chinese government realized that Bangladesh was not reliable in comparison to Myanmar.

Imagine if Pakistan suddenly told us to get out of Gwadar port.

I don't support Myanmar, I think they are Western lackeys. But it seems Bangladesh is even more so than even Suu Kyi herself.

The only thing that Pakistan and China have in common is they both dislike India.

And all three (China+Pakistan+India) now share something else in common, with regard to Bangladesh.

Let us be realistic here What choice did BD have?

India is not really the major player here. It was more the US and Japan that pressurised BD to abandon Sonadia port.

US is the biggest import market for BD(over 6 billion US dollars a year) and is also very influential in bodies like ADB and World Bank that distribute low-interest loans to BD. Japan takes over a 1 billion dollars of BD exports a year and also disburses 2 billion dollars of very low interest loans(0.1%) to BD every year.

Would China be able to make up even half of this loss? BD can be brought to it's knees by the US and China should have recognised that. The port will come once BD economy is stronger and more diversified.

What sonadia port has to do with it? Did we award you the project yet? Did you loose any money in it?
We will make a good business and strategic decision on this port and will make sure Bangladesh gets the best benefit out of it. China or no China. Will you hand over Hong Kong to us only because we love their economy?
