Sir taimoor lung ke bare main aap Ka kya khayal hay.

Tamerlane will always divide opinions. A brilliant tactician who sought Order in Chaos .
He ushered the Golden era of stable Dynasties in the region where Art and culture flourished.

World War One and British conquest of India Finally ended the timurid Order of the region.

You mean burn down the old before new ones are constructed.:D

There is nothing to be smug about this

Why?

Alexander, Ashoka & Akbar have all killed thousands in their wars and are considered "Great". So why not Timur? Just because he is a Mongol (How Racist!) or because his name does not start with an "A". :D

Akbar is considered Great by British propagandist. Akbar was proud to trace his timurid ancestory.

Tamerlane struck Europe and thus why the Bad press in most existing Literature.

Cyrus is also considered Great in Western Literature as well as Ramses.

I am partial to Ghazis who spread Islam so far into Pakistan and solidified our identity.

Sultans Mahmud e Ghazni, Muhammad Ghori, Zahiruddin Babur, and Aurangzeb Alamgir.

Among all these leaders Asoka and Akbar are termed as the great by the historians. History always tell that great rulers fought war to expand their kingdom. This must have caused killing of thousands, but it was a norm of that time.
Asoka after killing thousands repented for it. His inscriptions prohibited killing of animals for recreation. He was the first person who preached ahimsha.
Akbar inherited a kingdom which his father lost. He rebuilt it, united a fragmented subcontinent, introduced a effective administration including land reform, strengthen the kingdom by effective collection of taxes, has great vision of understanding religious tolerance were few to be noted.
One of the great ruler Mughals couldn't have was Darasuko. That could have continued the Mughal's for few more generations. Another noted mention Tuglaq. His policies were way forward his time.
And the worst, undoubtedly Aurangzeb. Weakened the foundation of the Great Moughals to such an extend it collapsed.

Akbar wrote poetry of being homesick about what is now present day Afghanistan.

It took him years to get used to the heat and stark contrast in culture. He thus why tried manupilating it.

Just saying

Ahimsa was preached by Mahavira & Buddha long before Ashoka. Ashoka was able to propagate it better due to his influence and rule.

Why dont you be straight about it and say asoka used the newly founded theology of buddha to unite North and South.

Akbar introduced deen i Ilahi likewise but was thwarted by Muslims theologists as an Innovation too far for the islamic faith.

Ashoka was already ruling most of the subcontinent. There was no religious divide between North & South. Ashoka used Buddhism to extend his influence outside the subcontinent as Buddhism was atheistic and simple to adopt.
