Which Country Will Become The World's Next Manufacturing Hub?

The problem is that Vietnam do not have the technology to produce anything. TTP will allow US and Japan to place factories in Vietnam that are highly pollutant and labor intensive. These countries can then send their product to the market without tax. That is what I see with TPP.
You only can see like that cos you cant see the whole picture...... or you are going to be laid-off due to TPP, so you try to lie about the benefit VN will get in TPP. :)

To qualify as the next manufacturing hub of the world, that nation would need to have below list:-

1. Adequate power supply (power plants, power grids)
2. good transportations (sea ports, air ports, highways),
3. good communication systems (telephone lines, internets access)
4. Large supply of cheap, educated, hardworking and skilled workers
5. Good matrix of supply and service chains (raw materials suppliers, parts suppliers, finance & banking, management services etc. etc.)
6. Good vocational educations
7. Taxation systems friendly to manufacturing, import and export companies.
8. Political stabilities.

So which of your countries can fit the bill? India, Indonesia, Mexico?

IMO, China will still be the top in next decade or two, but the next manufacturing hub will not be a single country but a region consist of several countries each will do what they do best in certain products.

These are all good elements for a sustainable maunufacturehub.

I vote for Indonesia due to its size and healthy relationship with the current maufacture hub, China for a transferor. And I would like to called it the sea version of China. But in reality not a single country is able to take over the position. Vietnam has posed stuning growth in export value in the last decade, followed by Indonesia. The ASEAN nations clearly are the beneficiries of the great relocation of the low end manufacture.

On the other hand, India's efforts as such is largely offset by the rise of ASEAN products. However Modi's proclaimation of MAKE IN INDIA, the business still follow its natural movement. ASEAN is geographically close to Japan and China, culturally similar to East Asia manufactre exporting powerhouse Korea, Taiwan, etc., and obviously at the core of global supply chains.

I don't doubt India's potential, but the course would be roughier than Modi government projected.

Hong Kong’s exports to Vietnam surged 20 per cent year on year to HK$50 billion in the first eight months of this year, with the Southeast Asian country edging out Taiwan and Germany to become its fifth-largest export destination.

Vietnam is fast becoming a good manufacturing base , As an Indian I place my bet on India because of massive population and recent Govt. reforms.

Vietnam holds edge because of closeness to China, Korea,Japan and other ASEAN countries  , All the Best !

exactly, we go own road, no matter what other losers say. VN and India trades for example have a lot of potential. 20% growth rate a year with garment, textiles, etc...or how about joint develop warships and subs?
