We're already selling 'Made in Pakistan', why do we need 'Make in Pakistan'? The only problem is, manufacture and export of sophisticated systems (guns, ammunition, fighter jets, etc.) is ONLY done by the armed forces. Given the level of corruption, no sane Pakistani would even think of setting up manufacturing in Pakistan. The only people who can are:
1. Armed Forces. MQM is NOT going to ask them for 'Bhatta'.
2. Big name politicians such a Nawaz Sharif, Zardari, etc. Unfortunately, they seem interested in steel mills, sugar mills and the like. They don't have the vision for local manufacturing of advanced systems.
3. Multi-billion dollar companies. Companies like Toyota, Honda, etc. are totally following 'Make in Pakistan' and 'Sell in Pakistan'. We don't get any export benefits from these ventures. The government could try to woo others, but it will still be 'Make in Pakistan'.
'Made in Pakistan' would need to be a concerted grass roots effort. It will need skilled manpower, and a business friendly environment. Unfortunately, nobody is even paying attention to this extremely important matter.
