Dude, I went to convent school as a kid. I remember exactly how the atmosphere was.
This cultural hijacking is a recent phenomenon to lure people.
if it was part of respecting local culture, the last they would have done is to anglicise their names after conversion.
in my region ordinary christians always wore local dress.... (not talking about nuns).. and jewelry and what not.. only exception being sindur/bindi ... but now a days young girls might wear stylish bindi it because of fashion.
i did not study in christian school but if you are talking about the school staff or nun or father, thats a different thing.. its like expecting every hindu to wear orange dress...
