What's new

Nicely done:yahoo:.

What is this and what is it used for?

That's a unarmed projectile target that you guys launch & it acts as a target for the missile defense systems.Don't remember the name.

This is a one-of-a-kind US Military satellite - the Soviets have several in orbit, what makes it different for all other US satellites (hint: it also differs from deep-space probes like Voyager)?

@Armstrong you can play too:yay:.

Poland can not into space.:ashamed:
I had to search for the second one.
It says SNAP-10A,an experimental nuclear reactor that was launched into space in 1965.

.
Yes "Major League Soccer":partay:. Don't you know we American's only accept one kind of Football:lol:. European "Football" is too literal!

...

And no, I actually did mean the MLS. Just being a smarta**:chilli:

Actually Europeans, Asians, Africans, Australians, South AMERICANs and even the Inuits in Greenland call it as Football !

You guys calling it Soccer is just like how you guys to cover up your spelling mistakes when you wrote 'color' instead of 'colour' started calling it as American English !

Just kidding !

. .
.
You are in New Jersey ! :o:

When I visited it; my cousin took me to some Go-Karts type place there in NJ right after we visited Ellis Island....I burnt a hole through my wallet going through lap after lap after lap of it !

Hahaha go kartsy place? Nice. Did you meet any beautiful ladies? ;)

Enjoying my lunch break right now. :)

The first picture is an LV-2 Long-range ballistic missile target, originally known as the Trident C4 (the current standard being D5).

The second is indeed the SNAP-10A, the only US nuclear reactor in space. Deep-space probes like voyager have radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which harness heat from decaying elements, but aren't themselves nuclear reactors.

The Soviets have about a dozen nuclear reactors in space, even to this day, one of them exploded over Canada in 1978: Kosmos 954.

Nicely done, you've passed:yahoo:. But, if your ever interested in going another round I do have even more difficult questions:partay:.

Gray, rainy, working from home today, one of my dogs is refusing to come inside (she loves the cold, wet and snowy weather).

:tsk:

Looks like I'm cleaning the floors later.

The following photography is my quiz.

For a change of taste.

The Nature has been kind to some of us.

I love that picture! Part of Thayer's Counter-shading study (one of his Abbott Thayer's tests). We see one wooden bird because it's poorly shaded... we don't see the one on the right due to its counter-shading. Yes, there are two birds!

For some reason the US military is forgetting camouflage fundamentals and is wasting a lot of money on digital designs:hitwall:.

One of his "Copperhead" paintings. We have these guys all around our pool in the summer:(.

Some great literature on the subject of counter-shading and natural camouflage.
