Well let me say, I've considered moving to the Mainland (to Shanghai/Beijing/Suzhou mainly), and I've taken vacations in Macau and Singapore.
But I'm not even interested in travelling to Taiwan. Not even for a vacation, and certainly not to live there.
It doesn't even have diplomatic recognition from any of the major countries in the world.

And as a China lover, I will say this sincerely, mainland China would have been better if KMT was in control. The KMT had long vision and decided to integrate itself economically with the west earlier than the CCP did. Mainland China under the CCP took longer to make this decision, but better late than never.

The Mainland under the PRC is the only way to restore the power of the Chinese civilization in the world.
HK/Macau/Taiwan are too small, they don't have the scale required.
KMT only had to look after a small number of Chinese people in Taiwan, and the result is they lost diplomatic recognition from the entire world.
