What stops USA from occupying Pakistan?

Every living soul will fire upon any occupation force. When the troops will go out to patrol the streets, there will be a cross-hair on them from every window.

It takes just one mass reprisal on a mid-sized city for the awaam to go thanda bro.

Just one city. Maybe even a town or a particularly visible village.

I repeat - in terms of a militia, they have to be small, agile and mobile to be a nuisance.

But nuisance is the maximum extent of their utility value against a modern army. Any modern army - leave alone one that is the most battle hardened of all.

Your awaam does not come close to being a militia.

In the end, you are the same genetic stock as us. We are not the Japanese. And the Japanese folded.

This is not breaking and entering we are talking about. This is an invasion.

And all it takes is one reprisal.

The UN and Amnesty International will come in too late. If at all.

I had a similar question what stops them from openly having a US troops presence in Pakistan?

* I think it's because all that anti-India sentiment will be geared towards the US.

* Ordinary civilians are hostile especially because they've been brought up to be that way against forieng forces (hint* India). Weapons for ordinary people aren't too hard to find.

* In Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan the people of the countries were split and US was the only option for some people. Most Pakistanis haven't lost hope to that extent, which means there isn't room for US forces.

* Someone filled with anti US sentiment and in a position of power could make some bad decision regarding Pakistani N materials.

U.S invaded iraq? who asked dem? and destroyed afganistan n who asked dem?

Start gunning their troops down from every window and blowing them up on every stret, they will quickly ensure you have no windows or streets.

Then no bridges and power.

Finally they will choke off your food and water.

Do not compare yourself to Afghanistan.

You are are packed and concentrated like sardines in a tin.

There is little in the way of running and hiding in terms of options for most of your populace.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The fiscal deficit of the US economy (difference between debts and revenues) is INCREASING dramatically over the years.

Just to break even, the US would have to have a huge surplus over the next few decades (much more revenue than debts), which is an impossible feat to achieve.

Pumping in stimulus packages into the US economy is only a band aid, it is not a real recovery, & things are getting worse for the US dollar and economy by the day.

The US will never get rid off food stamps, medicare, medicaid etc (neither the Republicans, nor the Democrats suggest this); & will find it impossible to get the kind of tax hikes needed to break even. The fiscal deficit will continue to increase.

US is in economic recovery phase and this will take time. Also, economic pressure of WOT is reducing with passage of time.

How about focusing on Pakistani economic situation? From where Pakistan will gets funds to fight a big war?

When the US/NATO (120K) & ANA (250K) troops are finding it hard to defeat the Taliban (40-50K), Haqqani network (15-25K) with their primitive weapons;

Taliban is hard to defeat because it has roots both in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Why Haqqani Network uses North Waziristan to revitalize itself? Why does it not stay in Afghanistan?

By your logic, why Pakistan army (700K active troops, 700K reserve force) finding it hard to defeat TTP (10K?) with its primitive weapons?

how will they be able to defeat the Pakistan Army (700K active troops, 700K reserve force), Pakistani population with arms (2000K), as well as insurgent groups in a direct military confrontation (with the added complexity of 120 nuclear warheads, although not a threat to the US, but a threat to US interests)?

How US handled Iraq?

What about Nuclear disparity between US and Pakistan? The so-called US interests are harbored by other Islamic states. Our plan is to eliminate those Islamic states?

While you look at the geographical demographics, you fail to look at the population demographics that are much more willing to fight the US than the Afghans are.

I am well-aware of population demographics of Pakistan. You are not. If Pakistani populace can defeat the greatest military power in the world, what is stopping it from eliminating terrorism within the country and overthrowing the corrupt rulers? How about Karachi populace take initiative and put an end to terrorism in Karachi at minimum?

Heavily armed population. The occupiers won't be fighting any organization if it occupies Pakistan. We'll just kill the occupiers every chance we get, there will be no winning our hearts. See them, shoot them. If anyone tries to win our hearts, shoot them. If anyone tries to win our minds, shoot them. An occupier smiles back at you, shoot them.

We're not Afghans or Iraqis who will welcome occupation, the worst of the worst Pakistani government is better than an occupation force that comes with rose petals.

Zero tolerance for occupiers. Of course I'd expect no less from any other nation if Pakistan occupied them. Live in peace always, but if war is imposed be ready to give the enemy a bloody nose.
