Agreed, he's something, an exceptional poster, just in case some of you has been missing out what has really happened to him, let me share briefly what has been the real story behind all those " Character assassination, Crocodile tears" misleading reasons for his departure, the below was the real picture from my eye witness for quite some yrs here
(1) when he first got here, he claimed to be a Japanese thats anti-Chinese , China, so naturally resulted numerous clashes with Chinese members and of cos the "darling of those China haters"

(2) However not sure for whatever reasons, he turned into "Pro-China" instead, selling some sort of "eastern Asian union" theory, so basically no more conflicts with Chinese members, unfortunately those "typical China hater" gone wild with his dramatic change from anti China to pro China, personal attacks, character assassination, "non-stop stalking by a professional title holder" to the point that @Slav Defence has to come in trying to sorted it out, so all is well for a while......

(3)Until one day, a Vietnamese member @William Hung posted a thread with unbelievable details or so-called evidence against @Nihonjin for faking his identity, correct me if i was wrong, he even got a positive rating from someone that also participated on this thread, @Nihonjin was never the same, later on disappeared and vanished, the rest is history...........

But the misdirection part is just the same, the Nihonjin character as a whole can be seen as a Misdirection, this is what you would do to try to manipulate people, the problem is, should It matter.

Another example is online gaming community, a lot of people having a profile does not reflect to who they really are, but that is the point, if I am gonna be me in virtual reality world, then what's the point for me to go into that in the first place? The reason I can be someone else but not myself is the reason I play that game so nobody know that was me. You don't generally see people "exposing" someone for not being a girl, or a boy or who they really are in online gaming community, but you do in these forum.

Also I had the feeling of something not right about him, I saw a lot of Zig Zags in his posts; he started being smooth and changed his style many times.. He had some good posts but his overall personality was a bit strange.. I was never convinced he was a Japanese..

not sure, was not in the business, but the whole PhD Business seems like BS to me... The more I am into that, the more I think it doesn't worth the time....

Very true but there is obvious reason for this. The moderating standards are rather relaxed in comparison to most Western forums. Most members here will be just regular people but the anonymity of internet frees us from social conventions that normally arrest our inner impulses. Human self redact in social situations. On internet people can let rip. For instance I often use it as a release or catharsis of the days stress - normal life is exceedingly regulated. It is a form of venting and should be taken as such.

And i find aggresive moderating just atrophies discussion because mederation always allows bias to creap in. More moderation means more bias - so yes heavy moderation might remove the chaff but it also leads to staid, boring and one dimensional discussions. Real life is not like that. The real world is full of extremely contested ideas and can involve bullets and bombs. At least here we have to quote Churchill "jaw jaw not war war".

However it can make for a vigourous and chaotic environment but as I said earlier too much moderation and it becomes a lounge in old age peoples home with people exchanging pleasantaries. Years ago in UK there used to be a series called After Dark on C4 which would had a eclectic mix of guests and not much moderation or scripting. It just followed the discussion as it went forward. It was great stuff - one episode involved Oliver Reed getting drunk as skunk and creating mayhem. I like to think PDF is like that. A free for all rather than staid scripted show.

In a sense we are all odd. Why would a 'normal' person tap away at a keyboard in total disconnect to the 'real world'. I think the reason is maybe because we take a break from work on the PC and this is easy way to 'chill' out. Or maybe it is a place where we can sound out our ideas that we might not want to say in real life. Or maybe hear from people across the world. I think the reasons are many. But this is pointer to the future. Reality and virtual reality will merge more and more.

Aggressive or nonchalant Mods, trolls, ignorance, it's all Greek to me. I'm a fervent fan of Occam's Razor and therefore must subscribe the easiest and simplest conclusion... people here are just lunatic.

And I'm the biggest of them all.

Disclaimer: I haven't encountered any Mods except Waz, who's nice, so I can't really speak for their role in guiding discussions. But it's not hard to see how either being too active, too passive or a lurking shadow can cause behaviors to change.

Well, that wasn't my original intention but yes, you are right,

I am doing a MPhil and I have drop almost 50% of my posting since And I wasn't posting anywhere that many to begin with, and if he is indeed doing a PhD, you would not have that much time (I also remember he claim to be working as a researcher at some institute) there are no way he can make it that much amount of posting in such a short amount.

But again, I am not here to judge.

He was figured out the 1st week he made his account by some chinese detectives.
