You propitiate a Hindu god every time you say a day of the week in Bengali. If that does not rankle majority Bangladeshis....then why should use of name "Bangla" in the anthem matter?

Do a referendum if you really care about it that much.

The planets ARE symbols of those deities in Hinduism. Just like the idols in Hindu temples represent that which cannot be seen, the planets are similarly icons of these deities.

It exists in many languages....days of the week in european languages are from greek/roman and viking gods depending on the language.

In fact in the latin based ones....they are the exact same equivalents day by day as found in Hinduism (i.e tuesday = mardi in french which is mars (Roman god of war) = mangal in Sanskrit who is also a Hindu god of war....born from a drop of blood of Shiva (believed to be why he is red to the eye).

So yes when you say a day of the week in Bengali, you are saying a Hindu deities name. Just like happens in much of English, French etc...for other deities.

No problem at all. Rather it is one step forward for the merging of two BangIa. I mean by this name changing West Bengalis chose to use the term " from Bangla " like we Bangladeshis are. In short they preferred to adopt our identity over the existing ones.

The folk Bengali music in Bangladesh is richer than Bangal, The Bengali cuisine in Bangladesh is still dominated by Rice and Fish, Bengali occasions are observed louder in Bangladesh. We were behind in literature during colonial era which is at par right now. Bangladeshis are the true Bengalis or the Greater Bengalis right now and Indian Bangals are not in a position to determine whether we are Bangali or Bangladeshi.

The names of days idea came to India from the Greeks....Other civilizations had different names..Persians and the Chinese still use their own names....however the world adopted the names from the Romans...that's why it coincides with the Indian naming...if the Indians did not adopt it from the greeks early on we would probably have completely different names now...the Arabs have the best names...Day 1...Day 2...

Thousands of such places are there in Bangladesh. We are culturally secular and a mixed race. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism these three religions grew in Bangladesh since ancient period. First Hinduism, then Buddhism. These two religions dominated Bangladesh for a long time before Islam came to save people from caste system, racism of other two religions. People accepted Islam openly, some accepted by force but many willingly, not for the love of Islam but to escape from the racial attitude of other two religious ideologies.

And did the racial attitude go away? It didn't....because it was never part of the theological structure of Hinduism....rather the practical deficiencies of people that implemented what underlies the human psyche.
