‘We’re Too Small to Take Retaliatory Action’: Malaysian PM on India’s Palm Oil Boycott

Effect will go on to the public when price of oil products derived from palm oil goes up. Only appeased the extremist class which has the internet to come on this forum.

The poor will take the brunt.
Is palm oil oxygen?

If the price does indeed increase, the quantity demanded will just decrease. Basic microeconomics. Plus its not like there are no substitutes to palm oil.

Turkey and China raised Kashmir issue too. Picking on a small country like Malaysia doesn't reflect well on India.

India-China have various disputes plus US is already using India against China...so game is on there for a long time.
On Turkey, I remember India banned/cancelled some defence orders with them....

Well played! The Malaysian PM has avoided escalation by playing humble. This gives Indian diplomats an incentive to work with their Malaysian counterparts and move the relationship back to neutral gear.

Will be interesting to see if the Malaysian PM softens his criticism of Indian policy in Kashmir after this.

he has seen the result of siding with pakistan , it was even more adventurous colluding with imran khan in creating a separate islamic front .in both ventures he was left without any gain .

Imran Khan has severely severely blundered by hanging Mahatir out to dry while dishing out bustard hunting permits to GCC states.

I'm appalled that IK is not at the forefront of aggressively backing Mahatir politically and economically.

I can only apologise to all Malaysians and hope IK rapidly counters the malaysian Palm oil export shortfall.
A few actions need to be taken if Muslims are "ghairatmand". First Indonesia as a Muslim country needs to recognize two things. One is they should recognize India's atrocities in Kashmir and stand with Malaysia on their stance. Secondly recognize Indian tactics...if they are threatening to cut off Malaysia today economically(palm oil being a major export for Malaysia) then tomorrow they can do the same to Indonesia. Indonesia should treat these opportunistic baniyas the same way and raise the prices of palm oil slightly higher. Use this drummed up political BS by Indian politicians to their advantage...bcuz what can they(Indians) do? Go back to buying from Malaysia? Not only will they lose face...there's no guarantee that Malaysia wouldn't sell at the same higher price as Indonesia. Basically when it comes to Islam and Muslims Indonesia should put aside "competition" and stand shoulder to shoulder with Malaysia.

Other Muslim countries should lower their imports(if not outright ban entirely) from India by the exact amount they are cutting off Malaysia. While at the same time increase their imports from Malaysia...so Malaysia's economy wouldn't suffer.

Last but not least...Imran Khan and Pakistanis should remember how our Arab "brothers" strongarmed Pak from attending this summit(if the news about KSA's threat is true). At the moment...with such fragile economy Imran Khan had no choice but to comply. Pak can't afford a massive blow to the economy like that of Pakistani labor being kicked out of KSA. For now we need to endure that humiliation and work hard so that one day Pak isn't fragile and dependent economically...then show these so called brothers a middle finger when they need Pak.

@Avicenna cheap Indian tactics at play...trying to bend small countries to their will.

India-China always have disputes, but for this Kashmir issue, India did not raise a finger on big boy China and Turkey. India only picked on the small and weak like Malaysia.

Above, Action list against Turkey and Malaysia....

On China, they are already biased against allowing Huawei for 5G IN India....recently pulled out of RCEP and increased duties on Chinese goods

There is no political or economic measures put on Turkey and China. None. Your article is just an opinion piece. A dime a dozen.

RCEP is regional trading bloc, not bilateral between India and China. India pulled out precisely because she is afraid of the big boys, Japan, Korea, China, Australia and NZ, whom you can't compete against economically. See, India only pick on the small and weak, but avoid the big boys.

Fortunately, Indonesia is smarter than that

Malaysia needs to suspend visa applications from Indians and students or rapidly increase charges. That will stop the swarm of emigrants that the country produces.
They have done the opposite, by making Malaysia Visa free for India passport holders for a 15 day stay.

Malaysia still requires Pakistani to have visas to travel to Malaysia.

indonesia is different . they are victim of terrorism , they complained against terror financing against certain countries which were subsequently put under grey list .

How so as Indian consumer is the loser here and not Malaysia.?

country is more important than cheap cooking oil . we can cook with mustard oil or without oil.

wait for the right time .

If it becomes expensive for the consumer Indian government can always intervene and subsidise Indonesian palm oil if required.

Stop flogging a dead horse
