Lets talk about japan, its almost a world power, contributing already significantly. But still it does not have UNSC seat. So why should japan contribute more, without any benefit of a permanant member ?
Same is the case for germany.

Even india can contribute more for that matter. All these coutnries can contribute more to fill in american void but not without reforming UNSC and accomodating new members.

Who benefits from the UN, let me think, maybe that country that was openly threatening the rest of the world (including their own allies) a few days ago at the UN?

Pulling out of UNESCO, doing everything they can to cut down the UN budget, etc.?

Trump should just live up to his promise and pull the USA out of the UN, you won't see many tears being shed over that, except maybe Micronesia and Palau (and that too only as long as the money keeps flowing).

Don't you think China benefits from the current set-up with its permanent veto? And if so concerned about funding of UN and its organization, other nations should step-up. China can afford to double its contribution. In fact, the funding should be more democratic anyway.

As for UN not missing US if it leaves is just laughable. Like I said a UN without US is a toothless organization.

The United Nations WITH the USA is a toothless organisation, the United Nations WITHOUT the USA is a toothless organisation, so there is no difference.

But maybe after the USA leaves then the remaining members of the UN (basically the whole world) will try to make it a more useful and powerful organisation. Countries like China and Russia, and those in Europe for example, would see it as a big opportunity.

The biggest handicap and what makes the UN mostly ineffectiv is the veto right of 5 nations in the UNSC... after ww2 this 5 nations are the biggest warmongers on earth and with their veto right they could stop UN everytime to get into action against them.... as long as the rest of the world accept this the UN is ineffectiv... the rest of the world should stand up and say ...no longer... we dont accept your veto anymore... if they dont like what the majority of the world population wants they show their true dictatorship
