The transportation isn't that bad. My flight tonight is from Philly to Detroit through , then from Detroit to Tokyo (Narita International) via Northwest Airlines. From Tokyo you can easily take domestic flights (ANA, JAL) to Sapporo. Or if you want, take Shinkansen to Sapporo so you get to see the entire nation.

Don't worry about the snowboards, they have plenty to rent there. And for motels , you can rent some in Sapporo , or in the surrounding towns around the parks. There's plenty of english-friendly hotels/ motels/ cabins there.

Sapporo is pretty international city tho its small. Lots of European tourists there any given time, so im sure you'll find some German groups there. But if you're there, i'd recommend you to mingle with the local people buddy. Japanese people are very friendly and if you tell them you're from Germany, they'll be asking you so many questions LOL.

I think i would prefer shinkansen. :D How long does it take? And how is service?

Japanese red fox. If you're lucky, it might turn out to be a Kitsune - then your night is set!

Tanuki - or the Japanese red panda (my favorite attraction at the National Zoo is Rusty the red panda)

Gorgeous! Btw @SvenSvensonov , best part after visiting the hot springs (we call it Onsen), is a deep tissue massage. If you've never had it done , you have never known the meaning of release , then. It is 2 hours of pure release , and the air in one's body is removed. Re-balancing of the Ki (Chi) of the body.

It's such a beautiful city and a beautiful country, but more importantly a beautiful people. Too bad they have the self-esteem of Weimar Germany.

They need to clean up their insecurities and their revision of WWII and then rejoin the world community in full. Right now, Japan is just a declining state.

What is your problem with Weimar? Weimar is a wonderful city

There is no shinkansen direct to Tokyo . You will have to take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hachinohe and change to a rapid express train to Hakodate and then transfer up to Sapporo. The cost of all these trains are covered by your rail pass. It will take you about 10 hours to do this, with short transfer times between the trains. From December this year the shinkansen will run all the way to Aomori which should cut the time a little.

The cost of the fare should be quite similar to a plane ticket; around ¥24,000 JPY; around $240 USD or € 161 EUR.
For that you can get a personal cabin where you can sleep. They serve dinner, have bathrooms etc. And you can see the view as you travel around.

Thanks for making this thread, hope to visit in this amazing city in the future.

Deep tissue massage. Sign me up. I'd feel a bit naught asking for one though:partay: I know the meaning of the word "release"... Giggitty. Sweden is a great place for a good massage... and then some:D

lol. Anma massage is very similar to some techniques that Chiropractors use, especially when they stretch your thighs, or arms. You will hear cracks here and there. And sometimes, some minor "pain", but the release is so good. You can ask for male or female, but I prefer male because they are stronger and can get in deep and do wonders. The women are too soft for me, not strong enough.:D
