What's new

Welcome to Tokyo, Japan !

There is no shinkansen direct to Tokyo . You will have to take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hachinohe and change to a rapid express train to Hakodate and then transfer up to Sapporo. The cost of all these trains are covered by your rail pass. It will take you about 10 hours to do this, with short transfer times between the trains. From December this year the shinkansen will run all the way to Aomori which should cut the time a little.

The cost of the fare should be quite similar to a plane ticket; around ¥24,000 JPY; around $240 USD or € 161 EUR.
For that you can get a personal cabin where you can sleep. They serve dinner, have bathrooms etc. And you can see the view as you travel around.

thanks buddy. Can you send me englihs website for Shinkansen? Bookig and so on?

@Nihonjin1051 - ever thought of getting a Tanuki. Apparently they adapt well as pets, and are legal to own in Japan, but illegal here in the US as they are part of the exotic pet trade... though with the right permits and permission from the Japanese government that can be avoided. Local laws might be less stringent then federal ones, so exotic pets might be OK in some states (such as bears and tigers being owned by US citizens)

ha ! I think they are way too expensive for me tho.... :o:

I'll send you a link via email, okay? :)

Buddy, if i were you, i'd ask your Japanese friend to give you a tour (hopefully he's being nice now, LOL). Or bring your gf with you or something. Its nice to tour around with a significant other.

I've been to Tokyo and Osaka.

Very beautiful cities.

The thing that surprised me the most was getting hot cooked meals out of a vending machine. I think I told you about it before @Nihonjin1051. :D

Also very nice to be able to read the signs written in Kanji, since apparently most locations use Kanji in their names.

.
They spent 2-3 years wow! I bet they still remember how to speak Nihongo ! I'd love to see the pictures someday, buddy.
:)

Not sure of Nihongo but I would ask him today..... You teach me some sentences of common use....

.
Japan used to be extremely expensive but is so cheap these days。

Food and everything.

And I love Japanese food. :enjoy:

If the youth of today is to describe Tokyo, expect several of them to answer the question with these pictures:

While I love Japanese pop-culture, can Japanese members care to explain why sailor-style uniforms (without using Sailor Moon as reference), French-style maid uniforms, Victorian Engalnd-style clothing and cat-ears are very popular.

A while ago, I decided that I would learn Japanese but I've been so busy with studying lately.. And I forgot all that I've learned last summer.. Anyway, I'm hoping I will get serious about it this winter break. That is, if I don't blow it off and watch anime for three weeks straight lol
