It doesnt matter much on how they eat and what all they eat.. it all eventually comes out through one place.North, South, East or West. LOL...

lol lol lol...it was an honest question.......

Most people eat chapatis with one hand but there is no rule and i am equally surprised by the way they eat dosa.My way of eating the dosa is different too but not like this.I firstly take all the masala from inside and take small portions of it with every bite and dip every bite in sambhar and chutney.

maybe the ones i met were the odd ones out.....but dosa still...try eating with the god given spoon after dipping it simultaneously in chutney and smarter.....mmmm...

Yes we all eat like this. :) Typical habbit of Daal-Chapaati, you know :P. And by the way, if you notice, your Dosai is different from our Dosa

how :undecided:

Nopes, Mostly we eat chapati with one hand. left hand should not be used, Reason is obvious ;) but then every one cant make soft chapatis which can be torn by one hand. :D

thats why i asked why some people use it.....what they do is hold a roti in one hand...tear it with another hand, make a cone, fill it with whatever curry and then eat it.....

Where will Maharashtra and Goa be counted?

North or South.

Maharashtrian truck drivers are members of Soutgh Indian Motor Congress and they are striking along with the lorry drivers of TN,KL,KA,PY and AP..so i think MH can be counted as a South Western State....

IF you see a typical N Indian dosa, They try to make it for N Indian test like putting more potato, Kaju etc missing dals/ curry patta.

If Chapati is made bit fatso or it is mix flour (including, gram flour, barley flour) then it becomes more hard and becomes almost impossible to be broken by one hand so such guys dont have option. :(

Kazhugu tell me one thing..when you guys have an amazing dish like Chicken chettinad and malabar paratha why do you guys always try to make dosa and idli popular?

Every south Indian i meet will say dosa and idli are his favourite dish..i can unerstand if you are vegetarian but if u r non veggie u must definitely promote Chicken Chettinad..a lot of Non South Indians dont know about it.

try the natti kodi curry from andhra . i love it i always go and have it when ever i go to Hyderabad.

Yes i agree..even i believe that South Indians are very hard working people and your states are in better position that North Indian states but if you are saying that ONLY south Indians are responsible for Indias growth then i am sorry i dont agree.

Regarding Madras regtt..there is only 1 infantry regtt from the South ie the Madras regtt..check out on google how many regtts are from the North but listen..please dont get into a flame war..it will be better if we Indians stay united.

Dude,It has been a longtime since officers get allotted to different regiments regardless of where they are from. And secondly North-Indians especially Delhi and north have a great martial culture but that doesn't mean there are no martial people in the south. You ll notice that in most of india now, even in the north people dont want to go to the army. They are happier in civiliian jobs with a booming economy.Stereotypes of the past are all dead even though not completely.

Coorgis,Thevars of TN,Nairs of Kerala,Marathas all still have a great martial tradition.

I would still agree though that Punjab, haryana, rajasthan,Himachal,Uttranchal has a martial climate more than others.

Buddy i have lived in South India for 5 years.I am not saying that all South Indians hate North Indians.I am just saying why do South Indians bring this topic everytime in this forum?

Secondly, even i do not want to get into a flame war and i do agree that South Indian states are very well developed than the North Indian states but if you say ONLY South India is responsible for Indias growth then i wont accept that.

The thread starter wanted to just put the North Indians down thatswhy he brought the N-eastern Indian racial thing in between and i was replying to him.I dont like people who try to divide the country on the basis of region.

Regarding the school..i studied in St Johns Mandeveli which is in Chennai near Marina beach in 96-97 and in these two years we never sang the national anthem even once..we always ended with the school song which was like "St John the star..guiding our steps..planting seeds..."and so on.

I know that school very well,it is a christian school, obvly they wont sing the national anthem.

I went to an Arya Samaj School,DAV boys Gopalapuram which u wud be knowing.

We used to sing Hum KO Mann Ki Sakhti Dena, which i loved and we used to read the pledge as "when the mind is without fear.......",so what man?

dude authentic chicken chettinad takes almost 3 hours to prepare...what you get in the hotels is hardly chicken chettinad....the authentic ones they prepare almost exclusively in the sivaganga , karaikudi areas of tn.....but dosa - chutney hardly 15 mins and any lady/gentleman worth her/his salt can do it........chicken chettinad is for a leisurely afternoon with your family ..once in a while....dosai is an essential day to day thing cutting across class, regional barriers.....its sort of an identity for us.....its more eaten and hence more liked......

They have been invaded so many times, it's natural.

2 things i dont like about andhra
when i say less spice i mean LESS SPICE and I am not sentenced to burn my MOUTH
seond when i say less rice i dont mean a BIG BOWL FULL OF RICE.

I am sorry to burst your bubble but most people in indian army come from punjab , haryana , western u.p, himachal, uttarakhand etc. even from rich families. These states are doing better or atleast as well as states in the south . There is a culture also in the north of joining the army and participating in sports more than there is in the south . This is the hard truth .

Thats a stereotype dude. There is a lot of sports in the south,a lot more.Forget cricket,in sports like Fooball,Hockey,Basketball,Kabaddi there are too many south indians and for that matter indians from everywhere.

You ll be shocked to believe that the district of Kanyakumari used to have a Airforce culture and a lot of them christian and hindu nadars,Thevars of TN choose Infantry.

But after 2011,barring a few people most of the hardcore Jatts,Ahirs,Rajputs,Garhwalis,Jaats,Dogars want to do engineering or MBA like everyone else.

There are few people around like Gul Panag's brother and Celina Jaitley's brother, but they are very few.
