What's new

Was Iraq better off under Sadam Hussein ?

lot of indian muslims did not know what saddam was.

very true of modern indian muslims. but during the 1990 nato invasion of iraq, we had a slogan... "bush ko push karo, saddam hussain ko khusho karo"... "push george bush into some well, make saddam hussain happy". :)

in those days, a very small group wore burqa and beard... mostly the shia and in places like deoband. and there were many muslim ladies in bombay films.

and then the irani mulllah, khomenei, somehow found favour among indian muslims, effects of his so-called "fatwa" against salman rushdie. and then the tableeghi jamaat spread its poison into muslim minds starting mid 90's, especially among the college crowd and those in the software and services industry. imagine the contradiction... a bearded young fellow with the white cap, going into a tableeghi gathering which he thinks is islami, and then going to his job place which is a capitalist finance company, which is actually haraam.

so now, most indian muslims are of the beard-burqa category. i find them disgusting to look at. bangalore must have the highest number of burqas in any city in eastern south asia ( afghanistan, pakistan, india, bangladesh, nepal, sri lanka ).

I wish they meet an iraqi face to face.

very true. i had met a iraqi man called ali in year 2000, when i was a teacher in a computer training institute. i don't know if "ali" was his real name. he looked like a typical ( non-gulf ) arab, mustached... and not at all like the typical bangalore modern muslim male ( uncultured and generally bearded ).

and indian muslims will be quite surprised on seeing the middle-class pakistani ladies crossing the wagah border, without burqas. i wonder about their thoughts on seeing pakistani ladies like hina rabbani khar and fatima bhutto. i wonder also about their thoughts about the newly started pakistani tv serials channel, zindagi.

man.. I just wrote two lines, you made a thesis out of it.. lolz.. .
about beard and burqa, its personal choice I dont see anything wrong in either. I know people who have, and there is nothing disgusting about that.

man.. I just wrote two lines, you made a thesis out of it.. lolz..

every little thing, good or bad, has a reason... local or otherwise. :-)

about beard and burqa, its personal choice I dont see anything wrong in either. I know people who have, and there is nothing disgusting about that.

burqa is not a personal choice. most think that it is "islami" to wear a burqa ( hijab ), and some of them are pressurized into wearing one... pressurized by family or the stupid mohallas ( muslim localities in india ) that many indian muslims live in or create from an otherwise decent locality. neither the adopters know nor the forced-upon know that burqa is a clothing original to iran, with no roots in the arab world, and is certainly not part of islam.

but we see idiotic burqas in south asia ( including iran ) who occasionallly go out on burqa marches carrying banners saying "hijab is not a compulsion, it is my choice" :hitwall:

real male muslim leaders do not have beard. their wives or daughters don't wear burqa . google for asma al assad and ayesha gaddafi... it is only the wannabe-muslim who has either.

long post again, but necessary :D

That's like asking, what's better a punch on the jaw or a kick in the teeth? Not to forget, US occupation was another hell in it's own right.

Today's Iraq is a result of Saddam's Iraq and a result of US invasion and the policies that followed invasion.

I cannot help my feelings of utter dissatisfaction of what is going on now in Iraq. 12 years have passed since Saddam Hussein was toppled from power in Iraq, and the country still is destabilized, and extremism has unfurled in the country. Sectarian violence is unfathomable.

Do you think Iraq was better of under Saddam Hussein ? Or is it better off in its current position? Please share your opinions.

The news do not do justice to Iraq. The biggest extremist in the country is the shia twelver establishment itself.

Numerous Iraqi Sunni families have been annhilated over 2011, 2012, 2013. That was the main reason why the Sunnis, finally, protested en mass late 2013 and early 2014, and even then the iranian puppet government in Iraq suppressed them in their own areas.

Very few iraqis have love for TTP/ISIS If you take a small look at the Iraqi map, you will see that most of the destablization, killings, and violence is in Sunni area north of hilla, and in Sunni areas of Basra .

What has been going on is a carefully planned culling of the Sunni majority in Iraq. Not by the twelver shia population in Iraq [ as 1/4th the Sunnis are married to shia among arabs ], but by the puppet iranian regime which wants revenge for the iran and iraq war, convert the sunni to shia, and rule iraq.

Syria and lebanon are the same story.

Extremists like ISIS are their agents

That's like asking, what's better a punch on the jaw or a kick in the teeth? Not to forget, US occupation was another hell in it's own right.

Today's Iraq is a result of Saddam's Iraq and a result of US invasion and the policies that followed invasion.

Ask any common iraqi, [ there are many in the UK] Shia twelver or Sunni, and they will tell you that during Saddam time, no one knew who was what. People never heard of ISIS or ayatullah sistani etc. There were no such things, even though wahabis were right next door in Saudi and Shia next door in Iran.

Iraqis today ask the question of who are all these foreigners in Iraq? The story is quite similar to Pakistan and its problems

Iraqis were just proud Iraqi, Sunni, Shia, or Christian back then.

Baghdad was 70% Sunni, and Basra was 50% Sunni.

also, i would like you to know the religious dimension from the Sunni point of view on what has been happening in Iraq. From Sunni eschatological point of view, it is mentioned in our Hadith that the Prophet Muhammad salat wa salam aliih said that Iraq will be destroyed by killing and that foreigners will invade it during the end of times [ when the Euphrates river will go dry and a mountain of gold will appear in it which will be fought over ]

And mind you, among Sunni religious scholars in the Middle East [ and i am talking about Sufi scholars, not salafis/wahabis/ikhwanis ], it is known that what is happening is not the worst yet. That the worst is still to appear.

The Prophet Muhammad salat wa salam alih also said that before the anti-Christ [ The Omen ] appears and Imam Mahdi AS appears, there will be few arabs. However, today there are many arabs.

...i too tried to do something in india in 2003, on a personal level.

What did you do, sit in your room and cry ? Big fairy !! While I was against the Iraq war (#2) who made the Sunni and Shia kill each other ? The U.S. ? Do Iraqis deserve any blame for the shit they're pulling now ? We gave them the chance to start over without a dictator and his sons throwing them off of roofs and shocking their balls and what did they decided to do ? Blow up markets full of old ladies for some 1400 year old sect bullshit. Look in the fucking mirror once in a while.

I know enough about Saddam and Iraq under Saddam, for the 80's it was all rosy. The 90's under Saddam was miserable. But still don't forget, he was a mass murderer and a brutal dictator. Had something better have come after Saddam, people would never look back, but because of what did come after Saddam, people look back at him.

So please, I insist, you're not going to be comparing good times vs bad, only bad vs worse.

What did you do, sit in your room and cry ?

more like "direct action". but i failed.

While I was against the Iraq war (#2)

when you say "against", you mean going to the anti-invasion marches?? or what was it??

and why were you "not against" the first invasion??

We gave them the chance to start over

and to give them a chance, who exactly is the usa??

without a dictator

that "dictator" was a much admired man... president saddam hussain. so be respectful. which of your presidents are not hated or derided??

and his sons throwing them off of roofs and shocking their balls

you missed out on the acid tanks, in which "innocent and brave anti-saddam activists" were dipped, alive.

there is no smiley here for "brain wash".

Blow up markets full of old ladies for some 1400 year old sect bullshit.

saddam's iraq was a socialist society. the sectarianism was created by iran, israel, britain and usa. didn't you read the previous post by multani??

Look in the fucking mirror once in a while.

i do that quite often. i have a pretty face. ladies from ages 15 to 50 admire me. i am not joking.

and, is your definition of manliness... turning dogs on people and fantacize about burning people??

What did you do, blow yourself up ?

when you say "against", you mean going to the anti-invasion marches?? or what was it??

Marches ? Please. Protesters are @ssholes. 'Occupy' types. I just want to kick their @sses when I see them. I've got better things to do with my time, like work. Be a productive member of society.

and why were you "not against" the first invasion??

Sadaam should have left Kuwait alone. He had it coming. Really, we shouldn't have had to go in there, either. The Ummah should have ridden to their rescue.

and to give them a chance, who exactly is the usa??

The U.S. are the idiots that risked blood and money to give the Kuwaitis and Iraqis a chance to live a life without acid tanks and ball shocks when the Ummah sat there with their thumbs up their @sses.

that "dictator" was a much admired man... president saddam hussain. so be respectful. which of your presidents are not hated or derided??

'Be respectful' ? BITE ME !! 'Admired' ? By who, you ? How did he get to be president ? Think.

you missed out on the acid tanks, in which "innocent and brave anti-saddam activists" were dipped, alive.

Do you mean protesters ? People who take 'direct action' ?

there is no smiley here for "brain wash".

There are no emoticons for giving the finger, either. I've been asking the Mods, but.....

saddam's iraq was a socialist society. the sectarianism was created by iran, israel, britain and usa. didn't you read the previous post by multani??

Again, ALWAYS someone elses fault. Everyone MADE the Sunnis' and Shias' blow each other up in Iraq. They didn't want to but Bush made the sweater bombs, put them on the guys, kicking and screaming, marched them out to the street and blew them up. They didn't want to do it, but they couldn't help themselves.

i do that quite often. i have a pretty face. ladies from ages 15 to 50 admire me. i am not joking.

'Quite often' ? Dude, that's weird. And don't mess with the 15 year olds. Where I'm from, you get your @ss kicked for that and then go to jail. We call them 'jail-bait'.

and, is your definition of manliness... turning dogs on people and fantacize about burning people??

Not quite. One definition is flying half way around the world to save a people from a dictator who invades his neighbor when those peoples 'brothers' turn their backs on them. Some people NEED dogs turned on them and NEED to be burned up. It's a cruel world, chief.

.
Marches ? Please. Protesters are @ssholes. 'Occupy' types.

what happened to the rumors of these "occupy types" being supported by muammar gaddafi, russia government and china government?? a reverse regime-change attempt essentially, yes??

Do you mean protesters ? People who take 'direct action' ?

"direct action" is a term used by free-minded socialists. for all other types, "brain washed or paid criminal" is the term.

hey didn't want to but Bush made the sweater bombs, put them on the guys, kicking and screaming, marched them out to the street and blew them up. They didn't want to do it, but they couldn't help themselves.

of course not. why would bush do that?? cia, mi6, savak and mossad are just innocent sweater-making companies in switzerland and siberia.

And don't mess with the 15 year olds. Where I'm from, you get your @ss kicked for that and then go to jail. We call them 'jail-bait'.

from where you are, there are gay pride parades, with misty-eyed rememberances of the memorable family life of the chief homo-in-chief of britain, elton john, who has spent loving years with his husband. they all can do this because they are beyond the magical voting age of 18, when maturity and intelligence explodes within a human. they can even experiment and accept their proclivities for bumming even before 18, because being gay is the man's way.

from where you are, ladies who are voluptuous, chubby, plump, essentially how ladies should look like... are told and told and told that they are "fat" and "unhealthy" and so must immediately go to gyms to "lose weight" and turn into boyish-looking bodies with muscular arms, muscular breasts and muscular bellies because of course that is "beautiful".

from where you are, juicy nigella lawson == bad... muscular madonna == good.

from where you are, lusting after 15 year old chubby ladies == bad... lusting after 30 year old male-looking females ( she-males ) == good.

please keep your fake democracy to yourself. yuck.

Not quite. One definition is flying half way around the world to save a people from a dictator

boombslang's definition of manliness...

so while in 2011 in usa, people were suffering because of colleges which demand money for "education" and hospitals which demand money to keep people alive ( ransom ) ... and the occupy was protesting this injustice... the usa military flies thousands of kilometers to invade the libyan jamahiriya where colleges educate for free and hospitals treat for free... and before going in, the usa military has introduced "extremely peaceful" protestors in benghazi who somehow happen to be shooting policemen, slicing ladies' breasts and firing anti-aircraft weapons at airforce planes... and "by coincidence".the bbc, cnn and al jazeera "truth machines" happen to be standing-by at those protest spots.

oh, the "dictator" part. funny that a million libyans stood chanting "allah muammar libya bas" in tripoli in 2011, for a cruel "dictator" who was killing "civilians, including women and children" that million was of course either brainwashed or forced under gun point.

not to mention, forced under gun point to create a long jamahiriya "green flag" which was the world's longest flag. all under gun point by the "regime forces" of this "cruel dictator".

wonderful logic.

Marches ? Please. Protesters are @ssholes.
just want to kick their @sses
your @ss kicked for that

just you being sophisticated and gentlemanly, is it??

i don't understand the need to use such rude words. why are you always so aggressive??

Some people NEED dogs turned on them and NEED to be burned up. It's a cruel world, chief.

you continue being cruel. i will continue working and speaking against cruel people.
