Was Gandhi a saint or sexual predator?

The problem is that your point of view, cannot hold water.
1- The writer of the letter existed.
2- He had moved to the Ashram run by Gandhi to be close to Gandhi.
3- He wrote the letter after seeing Gandhi's practices first hand.

That is as good as evidence as it gets. It would hold true and admissible in any court of law mate.

Maybe when you die you can take it to a Heavenly Court and submit all your evidences. On Earth, no courtroom will accept flimsy letters by disgruntled persons as evidence.

Nothing "disturbing" about them if you consider that many of these are lies and exaggerated accounts. A few photos of Mahatma Gandhi being assisted by young girls is shown as "proof" although they just represented the perverted mindset of those who write these slanderous articles.

Let's look at the facts: Mahatma Gandhi had millions of enemies in his lifetime. These included the British, and the Indian Hindutvadis of RSS related organizations. Also there were many disgruntled Congress workers who were not given importance within the party, so they resorted to backbiting against the top leaders. This is a trend we see even now within the Congress party, some undisciplined workers backbite against Rahul Gandhi after they are shown the door, most recently Sanjay Jha, who was a national spokesperson for Congress. They don't have what it takes to assume the mantle of responsibilities that a committed Congress worker should have. So they betray the trust at the first available opportunity.

Today, under Modi's India, the Hindutvadis have unleashed a second chapter of lies and falsehoods against Bapu. So the Internet is filled with Sanghi-minded Indians writing derogatory columns, passing around disturbing memes, and spreading slander.

There is a saying we have: 'Jo hai naam wala, wohi toh badnaam hai' (a person who is famous is the only one who is slandered).

Bapu's image is far too strong in India to be affected by these vile insults. Despite a rabid Hindutvadi government, he's still considered the Founder of India, his picture is on all currency notes of India, and on Oct 2 (his birthday), in his honour, alcoholics in India cannot get a single pint of alcohol because it is Dry Day.

This is an ongoing fight. If the Sanghis think they can fight dirty against Bapu's image, there will be consequences.

Well said, most people who oppose Mahatma Gandhi are RSS-Sanghis. They've spread a million lies on him all over the Internet hoping they can spoil his legacy.

It doesn't work. Even Imran Khan, Pakistan's PM, had invoked Gandhi's name with deep respect in UN General Assembly while discussing Narendra Modi's scrapping of Article 370 in J&K. That shows world leaders and mainstream academics hold Mahatma Gandhi in high esteem.

Who cares what the hoi Polloi of India think? :yahoo:

Bapu is an idea, a principle, a legend, a sign of self discipline and was an inspiration for people in this world and will be a epitome of what a person can be and achieve with unselfish acts of humility.

If an person indulging in overt adultery can be called a great president of a country, if a few persons responsible of millions death can be revered as father of nation, if a women openly indulging in adultery can be inspiration for a nation, Gandhi as an idea too grate to be brought down by any one.

@Shantanu_Left, please avoid using that word "Sh***i" it's against our code.

In Gujarat, the Vaishnav's and Jains have a lot of OVERLAP in their cultures. Very similar family environments, they even intermarry a lot.

Any Gujarati will debunk your lengthy argument.

NEXT. :cheesy:

LOL. So what if Vaishnav's and Jains have a lost of overlap in their culture ? :cheesy:

Does that make them the same ?

Putlibai’s family was staunchly HINDU and she herself was a very devout and practicing Hindu.

The story of her being a Jain comes from a small episode written by Gandhi himself.

Initially Gandhi was not given permission to go the UK for studies since UK was considered Den of Vice back then. Gandhis belonged to a Vaishnava sect of the Vaishya caste, for which taking meat and liquor were abhorrent acts and his mother objected to him going and put the condition that he need the permission of every elder in the family.

And later when Gandhi manged to do that after some convincing she then asked him to get the permission from a very respected Jain monk who used to be the patron saint of many Jain businessmen who went abroad for business.

This monk told her he would administer to her son in her presence three vows: that he would not touch wine, women and meat. Gandhi agreed and that is how he was given permission to go abroad.

Now get me a "Gujarati" to prove me wrong. lol.

RUBBISH.

Gandhi was through and through a Vaishnavite.

He wore only a Dhoti because the vaste majority of the people of India were starving and did not have enough clothes to wear. He wanted to live like them, among them and understand them and he did.

His mother Putlibai Gandhi was also a Vaishnavite. She was the FOURTH wife of his father.

Gandhi himself wrote that his mother would not have food until she finished her puja (prayer) rituals. She would go to the temple regularly.

She would strictly keep fast on Ekadashi (Eleventh day of the lunar month). Having meals only once a day was child's play for her.

During the sacred four month's period (chaturmas) she used to pray devoutly and observe all rituals. During this period she used to be so strict that she would take meals only after she saw and prayed the Sun.

And that letter is 100% true. Gandhi's propensity to sleep naked with you girls was well known and caused quite a scandal back then. The CONgress struggled to keep that matter quite for political reasons. This was during the last days of independence and after his wife died. He even slept naked with his grand daughter though by all accounts he did nothing more.

He claimed he did it to "test" his "self control" , though such a childish claim seems laughable now. (Nobody believed it back then either). He had just lost it by then.
I think he was heavily influenced by Jainism though. I think Hinduism and Jainism weren't as rigidly defined then and even now. There are plenty of overlapping elements and in fact, Jainism could also be called another sect of Hinduism.

Sure, I can shove it up yours where sun doesn't shine.

You should visit Sabarmati Ashram if you travel to India. It will change your life to walk in the footsteps of Bapu, and make you more at peace with yourself. Most foreigners have found self-discovery in that Ashram.

Jain is Nastik Hinduism.

Which means they are Hindus who do not believe in the Vedas. Same as Buddhists.

But Gandhi and his mother were not Nastiks. (commonly misunderstood to mean "atheist")

How as Gandhi heavily influenced by Jainism ? What aspect of him or his practice is from Jains and did not exist in Hinduism ?

.
@crankthatskunk People find some extremities of Jains weird (like walking around naked, covering their mouth, extreme form of non-violence) but that's just how some of the beliefs are. There are many sadhus in India too who go around completely naked. That's why I told you that you have zero knowledge of the philosophies of India.

I consider Jainism a part of Hinduism and treat it just as another sect that has now got the status of a new religion. I haven't researched too much on Jainism to give a correct answer but that's just my personal opinion.

Gandhi did not walk or sleep Naked in pursuit of any Jain or Hindu practice.

Let us not give a "Spin" to this story in a desperate attempt to white wash Gandhi.

Gandhi did what he did. It just makes him human.

It's you who is giving a spin to the story. There's no proof that it occurred. He was also very open about himself i.e walking with support of women but it doesn't mean he had ill intentions.

Gandhi Used His Position To Sexually Exploit Young Women. The Way WE React To This Matters Even Today

There is absolutely no doubt that Gandhi was a sexual pervert, a paedophile, a vile man, a masochistic beast, an accursed.

This the abstract from the letter of the man from Kerala R. P. Parasuram.

"There is something of other wrong with them [the women who sleep naked with Gandhi]. [The] Punjabi girl who lived opposite my room in Matunga. She used to weep unrestrainedly and that not caring whether others saw her or not. She laughed also unrestrainedly. And then here is Dr. Sushila-behn [the 24-year-old in-house physician at the ashram who Gandhi also used for his ‘experiments’]. How many are the days when she has not wept? She is a doctor and yet she is always a patient, always is ill. Who has heard of a doctor who cries out at night?

Even then the whole thing is considered wrong by the world. I do not like it. Nirmal babu [Bose] does not. Sucheta-behn [Kriplani] did not like it and said, “However great he may be, he cannot do such things. What is this?” You must admit that there is something in our objection. You cannot waive it aside.

As for blood relations [this is in reference to Manu Gandhi]. The world is sceptic even there. There have been cases of immorality between father and daughter, brother and sister.

I object to your having massage done by girls. When I was studying in college, I read a report saying you were being massaged by Dr. Sushila-behn. And now I find you do get yourself massaged by girls.

Those people who know that you are naked during massage time say that you could at least put a cover over it [his genitals].

The same objection I hold against girls coming to the bathroom when you go there. Ramachandran saw you like that and said you had fallen a little from his estimation. However great you may be, you cannot do these things.

Your placing your hands on shoulders of girls. You had written once that you gave up this practice because others intimated you with evil intention. I have not come across any other writing saying you could resume it. So it was strange to me why you resumed it. During the two years I have been with you, about 50 letters or so objecting to this practice from admirers and calumniators came. None of them got any reply.

Your being seen naked [during his bath and massage] jars on the mind of strangers, admirers though they might be. Ramachandran did not like it. He said it was the limit."

Be ready for your blacklisting by the Ghandhiite supremacist scum with their CoC, and their constant victim card playing to admin.

. . .
Read my above post.

I did, and hence by laughter.

Why are you ashamed to admit Gandhi did sleep naked with young girls ?

It does not make some of the other things Gandhi did any less relevant or diminish his role in India. Get over your christian morality and shame over Nudity.

End of the day Gandhi was a politician. He was no Saint.

He is the same politician who asked Sardar Patel AND Subhaschandra Bose to step down as CONgress president because he wanted to appoint his own man. Just like what Sonia Gandhi did.

Nehru paid him back by betraying him and making him irrelevant until his death.
