What's new

Want to leave West

A few principles
  1. Every place has some problems, so determine what is important for you
  2. Try to adopt if it is possible without compromising on the core principles
  3. If it does not work, migrate to a place where you can live according to your principles

.
Why? Please don't start telling me how hard it is to be away from your home country, and you cannot visit Pakistan because Jahaz ka karaya bohat ziada hy... and you send truck loads of money to feed bhookay nangay Pakistani back home.

So basically you felt threatened in Pakistan and you left, now you are feeling threatened in US so you want to leave that country too ....... interesting.

History has been made after the US elected its first Muslim women to congress – Michigan’s Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

Ms Tlaib, a Palestinian-American, secured Michigan’s 13th congressional district in a race in which she was the sole major party candidate, having won the Democratic primary earlier this year.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota’s Fifth congressional district, Somali-American Ms Omar bagged the seat previously held by Keith Ellison, the nation’s first Muslim congressman. Both women are Democrats.

Hi,

You did not understand how it worked---I guess you did not---.

@Ahmet Pasha,

Just wanted to let you know---. This current job that I have---and the field I am in now---.

I started applying in this field some 14 years ago---. How many times I was rejected---cannot count---. I had a successful sales background and would qualify for the job---.

I just needed the right interviewer to talk to---. And when I came across the right interviewer---I latched onto him like a LEECH and would not let go---.

Don't make a rejection to be an end to what you want to do---. Every rejection gets you to a step closer to an acceptance---.

No one claimed that here. Many Pakistanis are resentful about overseas Pakistanis thinking its all easy money and luxury, but it’s not the case.

Overseas Pakistanis work hard and deal with racism and prejudice on a daily basis, even those of us who are professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers face discrimination and spite.

The new generation of children is almost totally irreligious, and if not most live double lives, where smoking, drugs, alcohol, bf/gf, and such is common place.

Those Pakistanis who have married Non-Pakistanis, esp Whites, have many problems at home and eventually lose their families to the dominant culture.

Those of us who have preserved our culture and language are mocked by the new generation of Pakistani Americans as archaic, backward, and out of touch.

Unfortunately since Muslim Brotherhood has taken control of most masjids in the US, they promote Arab nationalism and liberality (acceptance of gays, reinterpret Islam, anti-Shia-ism, anti-Sufi-ism, and immigrant hate) to American Muslim masses.

This is the reality of today’s Pakistani Americans. We face many problems here, even if it is not difficult to get a good education and a good job. This is not everything however.

I hate CAIR and MPAC

You see I think Pakistanis would probably ditch their hard working diaspora because they are "coconuts" to them big problem Turkish,Chinese,Koreans and Greeks I have seen never do that they always care about their motherland and the politics back home good or bad and stay in touch with the diaspora helpful in US politics.

Well thanks to Bhutto and Zia Ul Haq who basically made us slaves of Arab sheikhs and killed off our culture for generic "Muslim" identity the diaspora is confused who they are, and btw I dont see White-Pakistani couples mostly Pakistani-Arab or Pakistani-Turkish or some other Muslim country and I also blame the parents and tbh I love my father but one thing I complain about Pakistani parenting is the emphassis or pressure to stay in a culture that we dont know we dont promote it good so kids leave sadly.

I also blame the parents if the children go the wrong way. Parents have a huge responsibility to raise their children.

LOL, North Americans and Europeans usually do not go to South Asia, because of the vastly different cultural differences.

My advice is that, well if you are living as a minority in a Non-Muslim country, whether it is USA or whether it is Japan, is just to be nice and be sensible minded.
Usually people go to Islamic communities organized by the local universities.

The Muslim student association. That is the best advice I can give.

Other than that, there is no place like home (Pakistan), no matter how corrupt the government, or if there is no bijli or paani.

It's your house, your rules, nobody can tell you how to run your house.

I understand the challenges and prejudices Muslims face around the world where they live as minorities.

Yeah but Pakistanis back at home and living in the Gulf countries are quite the "Mullahs."

But for those who are living as minorities in Non-Muslim countries, its up to the parents to raise their children.

@Ahmet Pasha

Who are your friends? Do you have a good group of Pakistani or Muslim or Non-Muslim friends you get along with?

Your sense of alienation; coming to the US at age 12, presumably leaving behind friends and family you grew up with to try to fit in an alien culture can be jarring. You probably felt like the new kid everywhere and had to work extra hard to just keep up. You may still have an accent that some Americans will look down upon you for. now at age 21, you're having a quarter life crisis. You don't know what you want in life so you are reluctant to commit; i.e. becoming a pilot to have a "global" job. The problem may not be external but rather an internal conflict you are battling.

For fear of getting too personal (but this group counseling session is up to 16 pages so far); What is your family dynamic? Have you suffered a loss or divorce in the family? Has there been any issues over finances? Did you drop out of university? Did you start to pick up behaviors you are not proud of or were caught doing by your family?

You have to look within before considering giving up and starting all over again in Pakistan.

Hi,

Sir, little bit i presume . I have seen people (educated one) in real life disseminating about this.

You are Right.Every body is supposed to work hard given the circumstance he has. Even in Pakistan one need to do this to be successful..Degree/proportion of working hard though may vary with the society or benefits one enjoy in return.

Use them to restore Pakistan? You mean people who are already confused and left Pakistan for their own personal gains would help restore Pakistan? What exactly this restoring Pakistan mission is?

None of you desi gora lot would be able to spend a day in streets of Pakistan on your own ........ and you would restore Pakistan ......... keep your confusion to yourselves and just worry about your own futures ....... the reason you left Pakistan.

If the Israelis can do it why can’t overseas Pakistanis?

However I do agree that a lot of overseas Pakistanis are ‘wet behind the ears’....but let me tell you my story.

I was born in the UK in 1981 and our family moved to Pakistan in 86. We were here till 89 and then returned and then we kept coming back in summer holidays. I think this helped us to Keep in touch with the language and culture which a lot of overseas Pakistanis children did not have that opportunity to do so.

Now let’s fast forward to 2015...I returned to Pakistan with my children who were born in the UK and i’m living here since. It was hard initially especially as I had moved to a small town in southern Punjab. However as time went by, we adapted to life here and now الحمدلله my children speak fluent Urdu and are like any other kid here.
I had to learn a lot - and quickly - because living in Pakistan is not easy for someone who is used to life in UK.

I came back so my children can learn Pakistani culture and language and a different way of life. I’m due to go back to UK next summer but we love it here and I’m in 2 minds :)

Would OSPs like to read about how Israelis did it or do it?

However I do agree that a lot of overseas Pakistanis are ‘wet behind the ears’....but let me tell you my story.

The problem is complaining attitude, okay you (OSPs) may have seen better systems of governance, infrastructure, better life standards, better health and care facilities, schools ....... but when it comes to Pakistan on your return, you start complaining yeh road tehra q hay, yeh gali tang q hay, horn q baja rahy hain, yeh dekho khota gari fast lane may chala raha hy, wahan to humary tooth brush b battery pay chaltay thay ..... yahan log rishwat q laitay hain ........... saray ka sara Pakistan bigra hua hy ....... may wahi theak tha. Mia yahi reh jatay ... tankhwa thori hoti par brain drain ki waja say ajj Pakistan ka image KHR jaisay log to promote na kar rahay hotay.
