The sole purpose of this carrier is to protect sea lanes and do some friendly visits. Its role will be much like the Virat patroling gulf of aden and hurmutz. but this will definitely need escort. Sancho if you remember we have already called it a white elephant. The real capability will come from IAC 1

With all the delays and cost increasings in this carrier procurement a re-design of the island would be a good move, but who knows what technical problems that would have caused.
I still wait for reliable specs and infos for IAC 1, but i do think that it will be able to carry up to 30 x fighters, not only up to 30 x aircrafts like Vikramditya.

The simultaneous take off and landing on INS Vikramaditya is still doubtful, I read somewhere that with its available configuration of deck simultaneous take off and landing is not very likely, but in some scenarios.

Vikramaditya is also doubtful to carry a full airwing of 30 fighters, its 18 fighter+6 ASW+ 3 helos AEW+ 3 normal helos.
by far IAC1 has more displacement and more deck space. I am assuming it can carry 22/25 fighters easily+ other complementary rotary wings + supporting simultaneous take off and landing.

INS Virat, I dont think travek with full escort like a CBG, but these 2 will do so. I mean it would make sense to keep a CBG with these two, unlike Virat, so thats what I was pointing out.

There are also a number of auxiliary ships as well as submarines but I think everyone gets the idea.

But Russia has lost most of its ability to build the aircraft carrier after Ukraine was gone, unlike China has gained so much experience in these years.

How does that make sense? China has never built an aircraft carrier, the Soviet Union/Russia has built many aircraft carriers. About the only thing Russia lost was a facility to construct an aircraft carrier. The know how is there.

See it took how many years to refit a small second hand carrier?

It took about 4 years, while for China it took China 7 years. And the Vikramaditya had to have the haul modified and expanded. While the Varyag was only refurbished.

Except the US supercarriers, Varyag will definitely be the most powerful aircraft carrier, even above Charlest de Gaulle, even that aircraft carrier is nuclear, but its propulsion has a lot of problems.
