There is no chance that Russia has the same shipbuilding capability compared to USSR.

So that makes it better than Russia... So according to you the world must start fearing south Korea since they make 440000+ ton ships which can carry oil and cargo.

Russia has built a number of stealthy frigates go and Google about them.. while China was busy copying their old destroyers and planes.
They didn't go for battle cruiser and Aircraft carrier since they didn't need them and economy didn't permit them to do so.... they are going to lay the keel of an Aircraft carrier soon this year If the news about 6 warships and 1 aircraft carrier this year is true.
Russian shipbuilding is a sleeping giant(which would soon awake) China can't even dream of making copies of their power ice breaking battle cruiser engines which would tear the polar ice and still sail 30knots in the cold waters.

It looks very expensive infront of Vikrant only because Vikrant was made in India where PPP comes into play

Also, the frozen Sevmash is not an ideal place to build the AC as a warm place like Nikolayev.

How so? Russia finished Gorshkov carrier in 8 years. China after 20 years of trying still cannt do that and most probably Varyag will never be operationable. Pity, yeah

its nothing related to black mailing..
it was mismanagement and poor calculations which costed us too much.They earlier were ready to provide it in free but later on they asked for money coz it was indian demands which needed a mercedes from an ordinary vintage car.

and they fired the sevmash chief for this and all the rift b/w india and russia was due to this miscalculations and more timing which this project took.

but anyway,we thnk russia for providing AC which no other nation can provide us.

Actually if we paid extra so I dnt think its a bug loss for India

Varyag arrived in China around 2001-2002, it took us 10 years to refit that empty hull.
