I'm not so sure as you, but you might be right.

i'm not saying all is positive and china,US will live happily ever after...
for china is about getting internal reforms right, not necessarily democracy, but definitely rule of law and more openness(xi is doing that and he's very clear about it)
for US is to control debt (18 trillion now)so that dollar wont die suddenly(killing both china and US)
any of those get wrong, we could destroy ourselves and have the world with us...russia issue seems minor when compared with china US...
