I posted the above for general info about Hadood laws form The Quran.
If going by the taliban statement in the first post,"She came out of her house with another guy who was not her husband, so we must punish her. There are boundaries you cannot cross," there is no ground for the punishment.

If she indeed commit Zina, then it is what it is. It is clearly stated in the Sura/Ayah quoted above. I am not trying to be politically correct here but
showing you what it says.

As for burden & degree of proof:

There are three clear means of proving zina:

1. The person accused of zina (zaani) makes a confession and does not go back on his confession. Once the person retracts his/her confession, they are not punishable because there is no proof of the act.
2. Four reliable and pious men testify that they witnessed the act and actually saw the male sexual organ inserted into the vagina.
3. A woman without a husband found to be pregnant.

Scholars agreed on the first two methods of proving zina, but disputed the third one; some scholars rejected the third point as proof.

Death for Hitting One's father

Death for Cursing Parents

1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

Death for Adultery

If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

Death for Fornication

A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)

If a girl comes out of the house with another guy whose not her husband, that doesn't mean she committed Zina. He could've been a plumber or maybe a friend that she sees as a brother. I've studied with some of my female friends together in a room it doesn't mean we did anything.

Today's Pakistan is not the Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam visioned and these kind of things shouldn't be happening in the year 2009..if we continue this road Pakistan will become another Afghanistan.

These guys in Swat are not even following Sharia law the right way. They should all be thrown into prison for doing this to the girl.

I wish our government would do something, our people in Swat cant live a life like this. They must be given the right for a good education, equal rights for men and women, good jobs, development so all areas in Pakistan can prosper and we can compete with the entire world, not be in competetion with Afghanistan.

Couldn't agree with you more, the tipping point has approached...any sudden wrong moves can have us all proper ****** and turn the region into a mess of monolithic proportions. These are the people who elect ANP cheats who promise them 'peace' with the Taliban and an end to fighting. Thats all they care about, getting the army out. They just whine and complain about everything, but at the end of the day they are okay with this as long as the Army stays out. Imagine this sort of thing happening in Karachi, the people would beat the Talibanes to death before the police gets there. Here the police is beaten and shot to death while they stay in their stations, and ALL the people do is stand around like if it is some circus. Disgusting...

You're right its disgusting that people were just standing around watching this happen but these people are our people too. Pakistan must do something now or our people are just going to blame other Pakistanis 5 years down the road.

I hope we can get rid of this pre-historic taliban mentality and move on with developing our areas and building a modern Pakistan thats respected in the international community.

Strict Islamic law will just make people turn away from Islam. I've seen people who've been repressed much of their lives and when they taste a bit of freedom there's no stopping them. Too much repression like this is never good.

You need to put some more focus on reading posts then making an opinion of your own out of it, nor that i care but yes propaganda. This thing happened a year ago and it has been dig out now wonder why, i'll leave that for you to figure it out.
On a side note talking about morality and intellectuality, sounds more of being a hypocrite specially when one see about whats going on in Kashmir.

I though the taliban did not allow a man who was not related to a woman to touch her?.......so why are 2-3 men that are not related to her touching her,have they not also broken there own laws.

It is sad what is happining to the girl but where the woman lawyers not beaten up by the police some months back?
