Wasting resources on more F-16s seems pointless. There is little chance for PAF to get F-16 Block 60, and frankly PAF needs to move on. Any few good used pieces coming PAF's way without spending too much money should be welcome. But, PAF budget should really be used to induct new fighters with at least AESA, HMD, & IRST and associated armament.

Instead of chasing F-16s, it would be far better to go pour all resources into JF-17 Block III and move the program along.

J-10, with its Delta Canard configuration should be considered seriously. Ever since Mirage induction, PAF has always had delta-winged fighters and they have certain advantages over cropped deltas like F-16 and JF-17. Though its good to have fewer types for reasons of cost and simplicity, any opposing force must not be able to presume the composition of the welcoming party so as to set up an engagement entirely to its preference (altitude, speed, configuration).

Investing in the Block 60 will be more expensive due to the unit price followed by the infrastructure changes such as new radar and different engines being fielded.....also paying the UAE government agencies the royalty payments associated with anyone who wants to purchase the Block 60 version of the F-16.

if zardari comes next year into power then expect brand new f16 deal immediately (remember the active lobby of zardari for f16 in usa with john mccain) else later expect the deal...i read somewhere that after USA delivers a number of f16iq to iraq , by 2019 paf will also get additional f16...also forget jordanian vipers... @Windjammer sir how probable do u see paf getting f16 ozgur upgrade by 2022? @Khafee

Fund is not the major problem back then I think. We have lots of Musharraf supporter in China cause he is very close with China. I'm one of them. The most important thing is that J10's got more matured and excellent than it was in year 2008.

dear sir , other than that PAF itself didnt like J-10A due to some reasons :
- Cockpit disliked by pilots (minor issue)
- Maintainence hazard
- immature engine (this issue used to be on thunders too until some time back , now its 95% fixed)
- The separated attached intake weakened the airframe life while flight.. (low airframe life)
- Not allowed for J-10b export at that time

And the thing is---if the Paf is not happy with any chinese EW package---it has options to go to Turkey---Italy---Spain---etc---just like it did for the JF17.

PAF is very satisfied with Chinese EW package...
