USA sceptic towards chinese economic development in Pakistan will bear fruits due to instability

Do these projects break even from a cost benefit analysis that a foreign investor would look at carefully?

Are you implying that Chinese didn't carry out due diligence? That the President of China on a State visit to Pakistan just signed the deal without knowing what he's getting China into?

I'm no expert but I have little doubt that China's gonna get the most out of this project followed by Pakistan.

I have no doubt that the Chinese will perform due diligence and an exacting cost-benefit analysis for all their billions to be invested. That is also why there are not many hyped up claims from their side regarding the CPEC.

Describe 'hyped up' claims. Are you sure it's not the difference in mindset of the Pakistanis and Chinese?
I mean, China's the second biggest economy, yet I don't see as many Chinese bragging their achievements thus far
like a Pakistani or an Indian would do. Could this be the 'hyped up' claims you're referring to?

Let's start with these two that are oft repeated: Gawadar port will become a center for global shipping. KKH will become a second and secure channel for Chinese energy supplies. Both are hyped up claims.

That by no means suggests CPEC's non-viable as you've been implying thus far. So what if Gwadar isn't the center for
global shipping followed by KKH?

Where have I said that? CPEC remains an important mega-project for Pakistan, and its viability is not in doubt, only the magnitude of the claims being made. There is a difference between the two, you know.

US skeptical about CPEC...

Pakistan and China be like:

Where have I said that?

I said you were implying, not necessarily saying.

Given the terrain, the costs of making any form of road, rail or pipe transport safe and reliable increase tremendously compared to alternatives available. It can be done, but it alters the cost:benefit ratio a lot.

The capacities and costs of each mode can be calculated and they will come out to be only small fraction of China's needs, or even only Western China's needs, with better alternatives available

You really need to make up your mind whether or not it's feasibility is in doubt.
People are always gonna hype up everything. I'm sure you're grown up enough to understand that.

Actually they did, and that's why they have extracted a 18% sovereign guarantee from Gov of Pakistan. they don't loose money no matter what. Pakistani citizens pay weather it fails or succeeds. There is always is catch, hope it woks out, CPEC is Important for Pakistan Not as much for China.

I had collated the possible, backfire from the CPEC, but as I am an Indian it might just be dismissed as a troll post. Posting the link here for you to read. Vyom's Musings : The Illusion of CPEC Prosperity - The Debt Trap

Other may please ignore.

I have already read that thread with interest.

My posts are quite clear in what they say. And consistent.

We get it, any kind of investment is bad for Pakistan. Easiest thing to do is, we all should move to USA and live next to @Syed.Ali.Haider :enjoy:

Nah man, Murrika is a horrible place to live. Canada is the best! :D

Investment is good, but investment with a sovereign guarantee of 18% return is either very good, or very bad, depending on who pays.

Ships in the open sea are quite safe from tsunamis. Don't believe me? Do some homework,, it will be educational.

Tsunamis are not the issue, its the growing Indian and US presence in Indian ocean and South China sea, which can cut off supply routes to China in case of conflict. Plus there are pirates in the Malaysian/Philippines region. So China will definitely risk forging a corridor through an Earthquake zone where earthquakes come every ten years, for it will also be conducting millions of dollars worth of trade through it daily. Looks like you dont like the idea of Pakistan being the gateway for CPEC..

So why don't you list the alternate projects to CPEC? You seem to strongly believe that all civilian / military planners from China and Pakistan are stupid and do not know anything. If you are pointing to a problem then propose a solution. . Let's hear it?
