Really? The question of expanding the theatre of war did not arise as Pakistani troops had no other alternative but to withdraw due to a number of reasons as brought out by Gen Kayani himself, ex Pak 10 Corps Commander.
He categorically mentioned two important points:
1. India artillery barrages were so heavy, it resulted in unacceptable casualties to the Pakistan Army.
2. Nawaz Sharif rushed to the US to stop the Indian onslaught as in his own words, "Yeh Pakistan fauj ka izzat ka sawal thha"! In other words, the casualties were mounting and they desperately needed 'safe passage' and a halt to the murderous Indian artillery barrages so they could withdraw without further casualties.
In addition, after the main logistics base at Muntho Dhalo was destroyed by IAF Mirage aircraft, the supply chain that included water, ammo, spares, food etc completely broke down. With no supplies, Pak troops even resorted to eating snow to quench their thirst! Eating raw rice is hardly an option as there was no k-oil for cooking!
And friend Mush famously says in his book, "had Nawaz Sharif not run to the US to stop the war, Pakistan would have captured Siachen"!!!! Really? With no ammo, no rations, no nothing? Mush was probably Superman!
Full of bs .. Like a chest thumping jingoistic 16 year old high on nonsense ...
