I don't think that Pakistan is in a position to ignore anyone especially US, we need to engage in dialogue while guarding our national interests.

Also, Afghan Govt. and US needs to act on the groups inside Afghanistan, who are waging a war against Pakistan with help of Indians; using the Afghan soil.

Pakistan should look to build relationship with Trump administration in a different way. Rather than asking for money, F-16, AWACS or helis; ask for the things that help to resolve Pakistan's strategic issues.

The US must dismantle Indian terror consulates in Afghanistan. Peace can never be achieved in Afghanistan as long as India uses Afghanistan as a terror base against Pakistan.

To understand the USA and its relationship with any country whether its Pakistan or India you need to just understand the following two statements of Henry Kissinger (the dark overlord of US foreign policy):

1) America has no friends only interests.
2) To be an enemy of America is dangerous, to be its friend is lethal.

But can there be something more substantial than aid to sway Pakistan away from what it considers national interests? I think there can be convergence of interests if USA wants a stable Afghanistan empty of foreign militants.

I am only referring to the US Pakistan relation which in reality is non existent. Somehow the Americans still have expectations from us and that doesn't make Americans any sense.

I know that politics is not black and white and countries tend to have complex relations due interests despite disagreements etc. However, Pakistan US relations belong in a different league. This is not the definition of a relationship.

That is another good point. Do we even know what the Americans are trying to achieve with their presence? It is not to bring freedom to Afghans. They are there to contain regional powers. We cannot be part of this.
