I don't think that Pakistan is in a position to ignore anyone especially US, we need to engage in dialogue while guarding our national interests.
It was truly shameful and embarrassing. On the upside, the deep state in Pakistan is not as neurotic about Pak-US relations as it once was. They all know how close we came to getting obliterated by the USA.
Did it covered whole payment we gave them?
I tried to Google but I couldn't find anything. So you tell me please or post links.
Mr Mattis should be told that if you want Pakistan's co-operation on terrorist groups then hand us over Mullah Fazal-ullah and his accomplices, who killed 142 children in APS.
Also, Afghan Govt. and US needs to act on the groups inside Afghanistan, who are waging a war against Pakistan with help of Indians; using the Afghan soil.
Pakistan should look to build relationship with Trump administration in a different way. Rather than asking for money, F-16, AWACS or helis; ask for the things that help to resolve Pakistan's strategic issues.
This US administration will be a NATIONALISTIC administration and likely to respond in this way.

At his confirmation hearing at the Senate Armed Forces Committee on Thursday afternoon, Mr Mattis underlined the need to stay engaged with Pakistan while asking it to do more to eradicate terrorism from the region.
Pakistanis biggest issue with USA is not f16 or arms sales linked to do moree.
The biggest issue the Thing that irks the most is USA New strategic relationship with India.
The fact that USA supports India politically nuclear suppliers group mtcr entry and I'd e en selling g arms is destroying USA pal relationship.
They are banking on China to replace USA
The US should concentrate on improving relations with India.
Pakistan is now beyond US reach. We are in different camps. The phase for offering lollipops to Pakistan has long long gone.
America is in Afghanistan. They have a presence and supporters in this region. If you look at it..Pakistan + China and Russia+China can form one regional power nexus while India + Russia can form another one...Americans are totally aliens in this regional game..
its not..politics are not black and white..
Russia is friend of China.
India is friend of Russia..
India is foe of China..
India is friend of USA
Russia is foe of USA
Pakistan is friend of China
Pakistan is foe of India

Does anyone know what USA wants in Afghanistan? If it wants to establish long term mil. bases to counter regional powers like Russia and China, I doubt Pakistan would be a party to it. But can there be something more substantial than aid to sway Pakistan away from what it considers national interests? I think there can be convergence of interests if USA wants a stable Afghanistan empty of foreign militants.
