US scientists boycott Nasa conference over China ban

HA HA HA, long live the "Biggest internet HOAX in human history" how dumb can you get?

India rising in US: Govt falls victim to net hoax - Times Of India

For brainwashed chi-bots...it is hoax...when the whole world think it is correct...Chinese think otherwise.

Anyway, I heard that Chinese government pays 50 cents to chi-bots for projecting China as a land of prosperity on internet, and you people are all monitored continuously for your on-line activities. Is it correct?

As always Indians love to cheat and lie. Utterly Shameless!

India rising in US: Govt falls victim to net hoax - Times Of India
WASHINGTON: It's an Internet myth that has taken on a life of its own. No matter how often you slay this phony legend, it keeps popping up again like some hydra-headed beast.

But on Monday, the Indian government itself consecrated the oft-circulated fiction as fact in Parliament, possibly laying itself open to a breach of privilege. By relaying to Rajya Sabha members (as reported in The Times of India) a host of unsubstantiated and inflated figures about Indian professionals in US, the government also made a laughing stock of itself.

The figures provided by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purandeshwari included claims that 38 per cent of doctors in US are Indians, as are 36 per cent of NASA scientists and 34 per cent of Microsoft employees.

There is no survey that establishes these numbers, and absent a government clarification, it appears that the figures come from a shop-worn Internet chain mail that has been in circulation for many years. Spam has finally found its way into the Indian parliament dressed up as fact.

Attempts by this correspondent over the years to authenticate the figures have shown that it is exaggerated, and even false. Both Microsoft and NASA say they don't keep an ethnic headcount. While they acknowledge that a large number of their employees are of Indian origin, it is hardly in the 30-35 per cent range.

In a 2003 interview with this correspondent, Microsoft chief Bill Gates guessed that the number of Indians in the engineering sections of the company was perhaps in the region of 20 per cent, but he thought the overall figure was not true. NASA workers say the number of Indians in the organization is in the region of 4-5 per cent, but the 36 per cent figure is pure fiction.

The number of physicians of Indian-origin in the US is a little easier to estimate. The Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has 42,000 members, in addition to around 15,000 medical students and residents. There were an estimated 850,000 doctors in the US in 2004. So, conflating the figures, no more than ten per cent of the physicians in US maybe of Indian-origin – and that includes Indian-Americans – assuming not everyone is registered with AAPI.

First, NASA doesn't release such figures. That was from a government survey.

LOL, only dumb indians think it is correct, no one else.

It didn't start as a net hoax, "the figures provided by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purandeshwari" for the govt. How shameless is that?

.
Calm down...the day China stop stealing other's technologies and inventions, you will get invited to NASA.

lol, stop stealing technology, do you know what that would mean?

What you failed to understand, the thing America wants is for China to continue to steal and not succeed. They would rather their secrets be stolen then for China to not try.

As to our reputation, the US during the cold war supported just as many if not more dictators and crimes against humanity than the Soviets did.

Yet they are the beacon of Justice, equality and freedom, you want to know why?

lol
@Audio

Most Chinese researchers are honest, or at least as honest as their American counterparts. They are simple researchers and nothing else.

You do realize espionage is not done by scientists, but by spies. Stopping a few students and what not is not going to help. Most spies don't need the front door.

@Arya Desa

We have been inferior for sometime now, but we didn't blame the Americans. If you are to understand Chinese mindset, history, or even current media, no one blames the West for us being weak.

We blame our selves, we blame them for taking advantage, and kicking a guy while he's done.

Also, never heard of any Gandhi quotes, being not Indian and all. But I mean essentially that.

Now back on this topic, 1989, US had the arms embargo, fast forward to 2013, how's that working out?

There is no reason to believe that it is a hoax. And given that hoards of Indians attend top US schools, it is not surprising that many end up working for NASA and other top companies in US.

Sometimes, it is not what Chinese actual do that matters, but what image they have internationally that matters. Chinese have the image of stealer and copiers. Forget NASA, Chinese won't be allowed anywhere near top US Institutions that deal with sensitive technologies.

Stop your delusional, we talk facts and figures, but what you think it should be.

"NASA workers say the number of Indians in the organization is in the region of 4-5 per cent, but the 36 per cent figure is pure fiction" -From the article I posted.

"The figures provided by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purandeshwari" for the govt" It was an outright lie and scam.

Ahcha, you mad? don't blame us, blame it on your impotent government officials which made india an "international laughing stock" instead

Survey? what survey? perhaps you're feeling too embarrassed to read the whole article DN?

Our image comes from not our actions, but from being poor, backwards, and most importantly, not under any US or allies' influence.

You however forgot one important fact, we are also seen as one of the world's richest nations, this is new wealth, our image will improve with time.

Chinese visiting NASA is more of a experience and fun activity. You really think we can't get into the door of NASA? Our internal security budget is about 600 Billion, you know what internal security actually means?

You seems not to have any experience working for US company or US organization. US regulations don't allow organization to reveal workforce profiles.

As I said I don;t have any reason to believe that they are hoax. Top US schools are feeders to NASA, Corporate US and other institutions.

.
NASA belongs to US...their country their rules...why should Chinese complain? :pop:

according to your logic then why did the Indian-origin Miss America complain about a few comments made online about her when white Americans own the USA and the Miss America pageant ?

Calm down...the day China stop stealing other's technologies and inventions, you will get invited to NASA.

^^^Biggest Indian Troll of this century !

I am not blaming Chinese here. Chinese are good people, but, west has an image of every Chinese working for Chinese government or under Chinese government influence. No wonder even companies like Huawei are discriminated against in the west and in major parts of the world.

.
Did it not? By sitting on knowledge, and not letting anyone have a peek at it? :D

Gambit, I try to follow most of your posts, however, I personally feel as if someone of your stature and knowledge should be less racist and bigoted at heart. I've noticed that the Chinese do prod you many a times, but most of the times your responses amaze me more than their questions.

 That is funny...The US impeded scientific progress.

Personal profiles and nationalities are two different thing. Nationalities and demographic breakdown are compiled by schools, companies and even govt. Who are you trying to fool? We are not your average indians in India.

It doesn't matter what you think or believe, it is the facts and figures that count. NASA had spoken. Even The Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) stated, "no more than ten per cent of the physicians in US maybe of Indian-origin – and that includes Indian-Americans "

There are not that many Indians in top US school. It's another one of those Indian fantasies.

It is the truth. If the US allows science to collaborate naturally, today we would be going to Mars a long time ago. Just imagine the collaborate between USA, China, EURO, and Russia.

More of that! Institutionalized thievery has no place among honest researchers!
Don't forget Yankee, 3/4 ofUS Physics Team that won 5 medals (3 golds by Chinese with 2 silvers, 1 Chinese and 1 White).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
College Park, MD, July 14, 2013—The top US physics students scored three gold medals and two silver medals at the 44th International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), held this year from July 7 - 15 in Copenhagen Denmark where the best high school physics students from 83 countries competed.

China and Korea tied for first place with 5 gold medals, Russia and Singapore earned 4 gold medals and one silver medal, and the USA, Thailand, and Taiwan tied with 3 gold and 2 silver medals. US Team member, Calvin Huang earned the highest score in the experimental portion of the competition.

The participants representing the 2013 US Physics Team were:

Jeffrey Cai - Silver, Ridge High School, Basking Ridge, NJ
Calvin Huang - Gold, 8th overall, Gunn High School, Palo Alto, CA

Jeffrey Yan – Gold, 24th overall, Palo Alto High School, Palo Alto, CA
Samuel Zbarsky - Silver, Montgomery Blair High School, Rockville, MD
Kevin Zhou – Gold, 5th overall, High Technology High School, Lincroft, NJ

"AAPT is proud to lead the selection process that identifies such exceptional student scholars. Their outstanding performance in this international competition is a reflection of the work of their coaches, the entire 2013 Physics Team, the support of their families, and the best of physics education,” said Dr. Beth A. Cunningham, Executive Officer of the American Association of Physics Teachers.

U.S. Physics Team Selection
AAPT is responsible for recruiting, selecting and training the U.S. Physics Team each year to compete in the IPHO Competition. This selection process begins in early January when high schools register their students to participate in the Fnet=ma exam. Approximately 300 top scorers on this first test will advance to the Semifinal round of competition.

A second exam is used as the basis for selection of the 20 members of the U.S. Physics Team. In May these students traveled from schools all over the United States, to the University of Maryland-College Park for the U.S. Physics Team Training Camp. There, they engaged in nine days of intense studying, mystery lab, daily exams, and problem solving.

At the end of that training camp, five students and an alternate were selected as the "Traveling Team" to represent the United States at the IPhO. In July, the Traveling Team and their coaches attended a three day Mini Camp of intense laboratory work before moving on to the IPhO.
