US & Pakistan Dispute and Tensions over Haqqani group

.
Of course. I hope both sides choose wisely.

Removing all past baggage and excuses, is there a single sane reason on why Pakistan wouldnt want to work with USA is solving the Haqquani problem..??

What benefit will it bring to Pakistan...Is that a good enough reason???

Commanders call for end to anti-Pakistan diatribe

Corps Commanders have expressed strong concern over anti-Pakistan statements by US officials.
The Chief of the Army Staff called the Corps Commanders Conference at the GHQ in Rawalpindi Saturday morning.
The commanders held a marathon session at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and discussed the security situation threadbare in the wake of strained Pak-US ties and aggressive statements by the US civilian and military leadership against Pakistan.
The military brass discussed the matters related to national security and the regional situation.
US Central Command chief General James Mattis met COAS Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the General Headquarters the other day. General Kayani expressed grave concern over infiltration of militants from the Afghanistan side and made it clear that Pakistan would not tolerate any such incursions in the future. He asked General Mattis to make sure that the Afghan soil is not used against Pakistan.

The COAS also lodged strong protest with Gen Mattis over the statements of US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta and Admiral Mullen calling the statements contrary to ground realities. He said the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war on terror demonstrated Pakistan’s commitment to eliminate militancy.

The reason Kayani was forced to admit the contacts was the irrefutability of the evidence shown to him, and led to all these emergent meetings. Let's see what response emerges.

Complete nonsense - both Pahsa and Abbas have made almost the exact same statement several times in the past, and even Petraeus spoke on this issue a few years ago when asked about Pakistani contacts with the Taliban, indicating that even the US maintained contacts with some extremists groups.

A little research and fact checking before spouting off unsubstantiated nonsense about 'irrefutability of the evidence shown to Kayani' would be in order here.

You mean attack the Haqqanis while the US strikes peace deals with their parent org Afghan Taliban?

It makes no sense except to give US an excuse to dump the blame on Pakistan. The US seems to have backed off - furthermore it proves it only intended to dump the blame on Pakistan which to its own public it may have and will get sympathies and a pat on the back for their dismal performance in Afghanistan.

Thankyou for putting us on notice, your ill-intention is amply clear, we are standing-by...

there is no haqani problem. he's in khost, he operates from khost which is located in Afghanistan. US forces have withdrawn from khost in the last two years and these guys keep gaining ground. They can be attacked in khost by NATO and American forces and defeated.

The NWA haqqani base problem is fogs and mirrors. If US really thinks he operates from NWA and his fighters cross over from there then they should dump a couple of thousands of soldiers on the opposite side of of NWA and engage them when they're crossing over. They have 24/7 surveillance over NWA anyway should be able to pinpoint their location.

Why would you make people your enemy who are going to live in Afghanistan forever?

You didnt answer my question.. Why would Pakistan not want the Haqquani problem be solved and why wouldnt it work with USA to solve it..?? If you dont want to attack Haqquanis, why not let USA attack him..??

A little patience would be in order too. Like I said, let's see what response emerges.

My initial statement is correct. The admission came only after Kayani was left with no option.

. .
The ISI supported the Haqqani Network which carried out the recent attacks.
Of which there is no evidence and indeed not even any motive.

The US has publicly called the ISI out.
Unsubstantiated accusations and a smear campaign and no motive for the ISI to do what it is alleged to have done.

Now Pakistan needs to respond by either changing its policies, or get ready for consequences.
Pakistan cannot change something which it is not doing in the first place - i.e it cannot 'stop supporting the Haqqanis when it is not supporting the Haqqanis to begin with'

Let's see what the emergency meetings decide.
They appear to have decided the same thing as the statements refuting US accusations and criticizing the US for scapegoating Pakistan imply.
Is that specific enough for you?
Yes, that is specific enough unsubstantiated nonsense - thank you for parroting the Warmongering US Establishment line for us on this forum (in case some of us missed the headlines in the news). Let us know when you can start thinking for yourself and actually support the positions you are propagating on behalf of the war mongering US Establishment, with facts, evidence and rational arguments.

I believe we are getting into semantics and overlooking the issue. US don't need proofs for doing things.. They have shown this to the world during Iraq war...We are yet to see WMD's there....So IMHO it doesn't matter if proofs have been shown or not...Though if we study the activities of past week there is high probability that equilibrium has been shaken...

So?

Did you not try to strike a peace deal with TTP in Swat? Heck, you even handed them over the entire region for some time.

...and you pounced on them when that video of that girl being flogged came out.

Besides, stands are different for different dimensions.

Haqqanis are their enemies and the US expects them to behave like enemies.

You, OTOH, were their ally all along.

Seldom did you behave like one.
