US deploys 'game-changer' weapon to Afghanistan

The code name 'game changer' for this weapon is just to boost the morale of their troops.
Most of the time troops in engagements dont see talibans.
If you see these videos of war in afghanistan you will notice troops fire a burst and then take cover less then 3 to 4 seconds in their own bases when comes under attack.
when they get ambushed outside their bases they raise their heads even less so finding a target then aiming and programming the grenades will take more time and during that solider will be exposed to enemy fire(who is actully looking at you cause they are ambushing you in most cases).

i know you are the military proffesional ... but in my view if that was the case ....

would US be still in Afganisthan ....9 years since 9/11 ans still with no fixed timeline when Coalition troops will evacuate....

my 2 cents...

More weapons to kill more innocent Afghans!!!

All Heil Karzai...

Is it no secret the terrorist’s target civilians indiscriminately within populated areas such as shopping centers, mosques and schools in their bid to destabilize Afghanistan and Pakistan? Unfortunately innocent civilians are the victims who continue to pay the highest price.

XM25S weapons are designed to accurately identify enemy firing positions in order to avoid civilian casualties, unlike the Taliban who are without regards for civilian losses during their insurgency attacks. Unwilling to face ISAF or Afghan security forces as soldiers, the Taliban prefer to kill with remotely controlled IEDs, or suicide bombers who are more likely to kill civilians than combatants. This has been confirmed again and again by independent human rights observers.

The comments by users do not state facts, but reflect personal points of view, and so a question must be asked? Are you serving justice by undermining the US progression in Afghanistan? Had not the killings and brutality during the Taliban regime completely halted Afghanistan’s progression? The War on Terrorism (WOT) did not just free Afghanistan from the grip of Taliban. The WOT also revealed how the Taliban had been freely conducting crimes against the Afghan people. The complexities of this war should not be overlooked but one must understand that US and NATO forces have been working night and day to secure Afghanistan while training security forces in accordance with the Afghan government. Everything is getting done according to the plan and the announcement of 2014 simply outlines our drawdown in the region. Are you aware now that we have set up a timeline of “when coalition troops will evacuate”? I will state some factual information for you to review and contrary to your statement, “If you see these videos of war in Afghanistan you will notice troops fire a burst and then take cover less than 3 to 4 seconds in their own bases when comes under attack”, I have attached videos of the US and NATO forces taking control back from the Taliban. Here you can watch how American, Italian and Afghan forces are securing Bala Murghab and have taken the control back from the Taliban.

Here you can watch Afghan and US troops involved in a major operation to drive the Taliban out of districts surrounding Kandahar.

YouTube - Operation Dragon Strike Courtesy NATO TV CHANNEL

In the last 90 days, Afghan and coalition forces captured or killed 880 insurgent leaders, killed 384 lower-level insurgents and captured more than 2,300 lower-level insurgents! Do you see how we are protecting “innocent Afghans” and not killing them?

Such advanced weapons will hopefully hasten the day that the Taliban threat is removed from Afghan cities and villages, enabling the Afghans to assume security responsibility for their own country.

Hey Centcom... This forum is a nice little operation of yours... How much does the American military pay the guy who runs this place for his services for you to dissiminate your propaganda??

I really am not buying the so-called fact that this Game-changer would be any help against Talibans(~Muj) because of two reasons.
  1. The grenades airbursting would in no way ensure the safety of bystanders
  2. At 750m(~range of this weapon) no one is going to identify a Taliban as friend/foe

You can tell if someone is fireing at you from 750m. As far as bystanders urban fighting is most likely where this has more of a chance of happening. and I gaurantee you U.S. forces take a lot more precuations to minimze civilian casualties then the Taliban do. No matter what though there will ALWAYS be civilian casualties in war. I would rather see this weapon used then having to drop a 500 pound bomb or launch a hellfire missile.

Jealous? When it is clear that the new toy will kill more of the enemy than they can kill of yours, you can bet your next paycheck that the taxpayers will be willing to pay. Why else do you think Pakistan is buying arms from US?

@Thomas
Thnx for clearing things up.
I still don't see any significant superiority of this weapon over the conventional workarounds such as Grenade Machine guns. For instance HK GMG & more effective AGS-17/30
UK Grenade Mchine Gun_GMG - Fullscreen
Russian Grenade Launchers - Fullscreen

Here are my observations
  1. Relatively more range (~1.7km as opposed to 0.75km)
  2. Relatively more lethality(~thermobaric, incendiary rounds can take out whole of the bunkers & if wished only the person behind the wall or in a room)
  3. Most important more cheap!!
  4. Fitted with array of digital reflex sights may provide more accuracy
  5. The weight feature do favours this toy; but I say not all are equipped with this gun but one or two & so is the case with any battalion having 1/2 men having GMGs as SUPPRESSORS

Whether they deploy Game-changer or Scene-changer their fate has been already written in RED.

They say communication shortens the distance between peoples and cultures. Was not this website established in an effort to more fully appreciate the concerns of our readers and to attempt to resolve any misunderstanding and confusion through correct information? Do we not provide a web page so our dear readers can understand who we are! As our mission statement reads, “With national and international partners, U.S. Central Command promotes cooperation among nations, responds to crises, deters and defeats state and non-state aggression, and supports development and, when necessary, reconstruction in order to establish the conditions for regional security, stability, and prosperity.”

While the responses to our posts are not always favorable, we refrain from in-kind use of personal opinions and attacks to present facts about the matter being discussed as was true in the last post. Is it not true that facts enable “kids in Kindergarten” to, so to speak, graduate? Towards that end we attempt to provide and, to follow your analogy, “to educate readers with factual information about current affairs. Our goal is to engage in an educated and informed discussion and separate verifiable information from rumors, lies and conspiracy theories. You are more than welcome to counter any information we present, but we along with our readers would greatly appreciate you listing verifiable sources for your claims. We respect everyone’s opinion on these forums and do not intend to misinform the readers. In fact our goal is to clarify whatever confusion may arise from a particular matter and use an official voice to put false rumors to rest.

Our mission in Afghanistan is not to “kill civilians” but to lay the foundation for the people of Afghanistan to build upon! US and NATO forces work night and day to rebuild Afghanistan and our progress in the region is a proof that we are focused on leading Afghanistan towards prosperity and democracy. Why would we sacrifice the lives of our soldiers in counter insurgency if we did not believe in our mission of establishing a safe and stable environment for the people of Afghanistan? If a new factory restores 175 jobs or a Province has new schools along with teacher training colleges or if another district receives new health centers then how would you interpret our mission in the region?
