the answer is very simple, give the people what they want!!! Give them the basic necessities to survive!!!

They want food, shelter, medical attention, schools, love, care and understanding, not war!!!! If you give them the basic necessities then slowly but steadily Afghans would stop supporting the taliban as the latter has nothing to offer them except drugs, guns, and bombs!!!

Like the saying goes "slow and steady wins the race"!!

I only see this weapon in special ops, in a hostage situation or when Sheikh Osama is cornered in a cave consumating his latest marriage

I am sorry but I cant agree with this...
it is the duty of the ledership of Afghanistan to look after the well being of its people. not America's.. the whole reason to invade Afghanistan was to dismentle the terror camps and kill or capture the people responsible for the 911 terrorism.

nation building and winning hearts and minds should be left with the local leadership, if it is cupport, selfish, inept and shameless to the core then "tough" for the people who are directly or indirectly involved in the selection of these scoundrel, or who cant kick them out.

same goes for Pakistan.. it is the duty of the goverment of Pakistan to ensure that its tribal areas are not a holiday resprt of every Arab reject who wants to poison the minds of Pakistanis just because he has been rejected and kicked out of his native country.
