According to India's Intellectual Properties regulations, they will have to submit the blueprints and other critical tech to the Government of India body, even if they don't give anything to their partners.

Either that or Gripen will win the contest.

Now that's some good news. Hopefully GOI & IAF would opt for 1 or 2 more squadrons of Rafale and focus on FGFA, AMCA, Kaveri and LCA-Mk2 instead of going gaga over this sanction prone F-16s. We know how US would reject additional supply of spares or critical components during times of need and how it refused to supply PAF with additional Falcons. Moreover there have always been rumors of kill switches being installed on fighters which the US sells to foreign countries which would be a major hurdle if we go against any country which the US supports.
Just partner with the French and optimize the Kaveri Engine with 90KN, 110KN and 125KN which can be used in our indigenous fighter programs and Su-30MKI as well.

This is multiple contender contest.

If they want to make the last buck out of their workhorse, they better cough up.

If not, then their choice.

As for France, I don't know. Rafale is a contemporary fighter, much newer than the F-16s. The French won't be as open either or if they are, the price would be through the roof ($20 billion or something).

There is no incentive for GE/P&W, Grumman etc. to provide ToT on their F-16 products.

On top of that, LM is under contract with a number of companies Worldwide,
that gives them the right to produce parts for all future F-16s.

Likewise, buying Gripen means no ToT on Leonardo, GE and Martin-Baker products.

I thought F-16 or Gripens were a stop gap measure until India gets its Tejas project on track. If so, I don't see how ToT matters, especially in the short-term. What's more important, in my opionion, is India modernize its defence industries by learning the best practices of companies like LM or SAAB.

Besides, the decision is a long way off. Things can change in the interim.

US is doing all illegal to give work visa to Indians, don't you think that hurt US job market?
India is western tool to keep Pakistan in check. This we have witnessed from decades.
Its not that LM is not going to build a/c in India. Plan is to build an aircraft and engine in India, using all American resources and technology but show as if it is build by Indians.... this will justify transfer of nuclear arsenals to India, as well.

No, F-16/Gripen has NOTHING to do with the LCA project, it is simply an attempt to create capacity outside of the DPSUs and hence why the strategic partnership model includes SE fighter jets.

True. India is obsessed with Pakistan. It shouldn't have to worry about it much since Pakistan is its own worst enemy.
