....and is the U.S. looking out for India? Does it see US-India to be a single team? I have seen no evidence of that & I am as big a supporter of closer Indo-US ties as you are likely to get here.

1) US and China are unlikely to go to war. That would end both countries, and probably a few others as well.
2) India will never side with or against the US or any other country in their wars. India has always maintained neutrality, and that will not change. India's policy always has been, and will be, 'friendship with all, alliances with none.'
